Kare 9's and Their Veteran Handlers
Wednesday, May 25, 2016 - Kare 9's Britta, Butch, and Flex were in Beloit, Wisconsin to welcome home over 260 veterans from the Vets Roll ( VetsRoll.org) 2016 Washington, D.C. trip. It was an honor and privilege to be a part of this welcome home. Even though the hour was late, 12:30 am, the veterans were full of energy and excitement as they exited the buses. Kare 9 Butch and Veteran Keith were very moved as they witnessed the reunion of two Veterans, who had been best friends, but had lost touch with each other for 52 years. It was on this trip that they were able to reunite. Tears were flowing as they embraced each other.
Sunday, May 29, 2016 - Kare 9's Brutus, Brandy, and Flex attended the Lansing (Illinois) Veterans Memorial Ceremony. Comfort and mercy were in abundance as the Kare-9s greeted hundreds of people. One example of the healing power of the Kare 9's was the love of Christ shown to a young lady whose Veteran husband had suffered from PTSD and, sadly, recently taken his life. She said to us, "My husband was one of the 22." A prayer was shared with her and she was asked to contact us if we could help in any way.
Monday, June 30th, 2016 - The Kare 9 Military Ministry participated in three events commemorating Memorial Day: Kare 9's Blitz, Britta and Flex attended the Schaumburg/Hoffman Estates Memorial Day Ceremony at St. Peter Lutheran Church. The ceremony honored those soldiers who fell in the line of duty and thanked the Veterans in attendance. Amazingly, one WWII Veteran in attendance will soon celebrate his 105th birthday.
Kare 9's Brutus, Butch and Susie (St. Peter - Arlington Heights, IL) marched in the Arlington Heights Memorial Day Parade. The dogs showed great compassion for the large crowds that lined the streets of the parade route.
Kare 9's Brutus and Butch attended the 3rd annual Memorial Day Old Fashioned Barbecue at the RTW Vet Center in Chicago. The Veterans in attendance took great joy in meeting and greeting the dogs and their Veteran handlers.
This was a great weekend honoring the men and women who gave their last best measure to give us the freedom we enjoy. "The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it will never forget what they did here." - President Abraham Lincoln at the dedication of the Gettysburg Soldier's National Cemetery on November 19, 1863

Luther Comfort Dog's Special Appointment
We've heard about God's divine appointments. His appointment with Kaylan happens to have a cast of LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs, compassionate handlers, a loving family, friends, and many at the hospitals which Kaylan has visited and will visit in the week to come.
Kaylan's journey started when she and her mom, Lynne, met the Comfort Dogs at an Empowerment Summit for women sponsored by P.A.V.E (Promoting Awareness - Victim Empowerment) in Palatine, Illinois on April 30, 2016. Kaylan and Lynne met nine K-9 Comfort Dogs & Kare 9 Military Ministry dogs that day. Kaylan's day was complete, especially when she had a wonderful hug and picture with Shiloh Comfort Dog. Kaylan herself has three dogs and, as her sister tells us, has been an animal lover ever since she was a young child.
Just two days later, Kaylan's life changed dramatically when the car she and her husband were driving rolled off the side of the road, leaving Kaylan with severe injuries and in a coma. After two weeks of trauma care in the hospital, Kaylan was moved to a longer care hospital where her body continued to heal and her family began the wait for Kaylan to awaken from her coma.
From the time Kaylan was admitted, her mom was thinking about what could most help Kaylan. Lynne contacted a friend who is a doctor and was at the Empowerment Summit and they both thought about asking the Comfort Dogs to visit. The doctor reached out to LCC to see what the possibility might be. Read More...
