LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs Provide Comfort to Grieving Community After the Sudden Death of Beloved High School Cheerleader

Matthew 5:4

Blessed are those who mourn,
for they will be comforted.

On Friday, September 4th, 17 year-old Emily Fleming, a cheerleader and beloved senior at Stillman Valley High School, and
Andy Conderman, a 64 year-old transportation consultant and helpful father, husband, and grandfather, were killed in a car accident. Two other teens survived the crash.

The LCC K-9 Comfort Dogs visited the high school to offer their special form of comfort to this grieving town on Tuesday, September 7, 2015. Stillman Valley was comforted by the support and solace found in the form of four paws and a golden coat of fur as they grieved the loss of a student and member of the community.

We pray for Emily's and Andy's family, friends, and the community as they struggle to cope with their unexpected deaths. Please keep everyone in your prayers, as well as the two teens who are recovering from the accident.
The LCC K-9 Comfort Dog Ministry never charges those we serve but relies on donations to cover expenses.

Faith Lutheran Church (Lake Forest, IL) Presents "One Man's Journey out of Islamic Extremism"

Hesham Shehab (Salam Christian Fellowship - Lombard, IL) grew up in a world of bitter animosity between  Muslims and Christians, which he first experienced at age 7 in a physical attack. By age 13 he was recruited by the Muslim Brotherhood and later fought against Christians in the 1975 war in Lebanon. When his brother was killed by the Christian militia, Hesham decided to stalk and kill Christians. Today, he ministers to the Muslim community, advocating love and forgiveness through Jesus Christ.

Have you wondered why 15% of the Muslim population opts for terrorism? What is the motivation? What do the writings in the Quoran say with respect to Jihadism? What are Muslim children taught that fosters a terrorist mentality?

Investigate these and other questions with Pastor Hesham Shehab. He can help you understand the Muslim perspective from his own personal experience while recounting the avenues that led him in a new direction.
There will be time set aside to answer your questions.

Assistance Given to Family of Four Thanks to Your Generous Donations

On Saturday, September 5, LCC received the following email from Rev. Dr. Micheal M. Strong (Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Farmersville, IL) regarding Jamie and her family in need of rental assistance:

Many thanks are due to all the folk who helped this family through some difficult times. Enough financial help was received that LCC was able, not only to pay a rent bill, but also pay part of a car insurance bill that was past due. Jamie is still working two part-time jobs and has started doing hair in her home. Needless to say she is a busy lady. We also spoke with her mother who often times has to pick up the boy from school because of Jamie's work schedule. Along with Jamie she expressed her thanks to the unknown people who have helped her. Jamie's daughter attended school away from hone during the week and come home every weekend. Unfortunately, Jamie will not be getting any help from her husband as he has gotten in trouble with the law. Please continue to pray for her as she has a tremendous burden on her shoulders.

LCC would like to thank all of the donors who gave so generously to this family.
