Greetings!
We're so glad you joined us for this issue of The Care Package Project News!
Currently, we are in the process of restocking our warehouse for our next pack day on November 2. If that pack day is anything like our most recent one, it will be a great experience for all involved.
With only one pack day left this year, it's time to start looking forward to next year. The dates of our 2014 pack days can be found in our first article.
November 10 is the Marine Corps' birthday, and this year marks 238 years of the Corps' existence. See how you can help our deployed Marines celebrate this important day in our second piece.
If you have a friend or family member deployed to a combat zone, you can request we send them a care package. It's free, easy to request, and open to all branches of the military.
If you're unable to join us in person for a pack day, but still want to contribute in some way, for just $22, you can sponsor a care package. Sponsoring a care package is a quick, easy way to show your support for our troops.
Thank you for joining us for this issue and for your continued support of our brave men and women in uniform.
Semper Fi, Marine Families!

Happy Birthday Marines!
Show Your Support, Send a Card
As many of you know, the Marine Corps' birthday is November 10, just 8 short days after our November 2 pack day. As a result, our November pack day will be Marine Corps birthday themed. We'd like to encourage everyone to write happy birthday cards to Marines and send them to us so we can include them in the care packages. If you have a specific Marine in mind you'd like to write to, click here to find out how to make sure your Marine gets your letter. If you don't have a specific Marine in mind, or you want to write multiple cards, generic cards addressed to "Dear Marine" are welcome and encouraged. Few dates are more important to a Marine (and, as a result, to us) than November 10, so we're ready to celebrate the founding of one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in the country by wishing our deployed Marines a happy birthday and thanking them for their service. Click here to purchase USMC birthday cards so you can wish a Marine a happy birthday!

Pancake Breakfast, Blood Drive
Mid-Missouri Events Aim to Keep Memory Alive
Every day, around the country, the families and friends of our Fallen Heroes hold memorial events to honor the memories of these brave men and women, and the Mid-Missouri area is no different. In the upcoming week, two local Gold Star families will be holding events in their sons' honors.
The first event is a pancake breakfast this Saturday, October 5, hosted by the Wyatt family, whose son Sterling lost his life in Afghanistan last year. The breakfast will take place from 8-10 a.m. at both Columbia Applebee's locations. Proceeds from the breakfast will benefit a Boy Scout scholarship fund in Sterling's name.
The second event will take place the following Friday, October 11, in Jamestown, MO. The Deraps family, whose son Leon lost his life in Iraq in 2006, will be holding a blood drive in his honor at Jamestown High School from 2-7 pm.
Anyone who would like more information on either event can call us at 573-449-2003 or email mp@marineparents.com for more information.

Sponsor a Care Package
$22 Sends a Personalized Care Package Overseas
When you sponsor a Care Package,
you've made the decision to fund the sending of various comfort items to an American serving in the military in a combat zone far from home. These packages include such items as handwritten cards, hard candies, clothing, easily prepared meals, books, and personal care items. The packages send a personal message to troops overseas: that their efforts are appreciated, that they are not forgotten.
Sponsor a Care Package today, and we will include your name inside a package to be mailed out on our next pack day.
