Greetings!

The month of November is filled with occasions to recognize and celebrate!

November 5th was Election Day and I, for one, am grateful to live in a nation that values democracy and in which every citizen is able to exercise their right to vote.

November 10th is the official birth date of the United State Marine Corps, and this year marked the Corps' 238th Birthday! To celebrate this important day, Marines around the country don their "Dress Blues" and attend ceremonies in celebration of the history of the Corps. These celebrations usually include a banquet and dancing. I am thankful for all of our military branches, as well as for the men and women who make it their life's work to defend rights and freedoms the United States and its citizens.

11-2012 Thanksgiving newsletter picNovember 11th was a special day to honor our Veterans -- those who have served in the past as well as those who currently serve this great country of ours. I appreciate each and every one and the sacrifices they make to keep us free and safe.

November 28th is a day to be thankful for all of the blessings present in each of our lives. Let us be mindful of the many freedoms we embrace and the service members who are committed to ensuring those freedoms by putting their lives on the line for those of us at home. Please include them in your thoughts and prayers.

Finally, I am thankful for the opportunity to be involved with an organization as wonderful as Marine Parents, and I am especially honored to be a part of OperationPAL™, as it has given me the opportunity to get to know all of you!

Take Good Care,

Holiday Cards for OPPAL:

Many of our participants will be able to spend their holidays at home with family. It makes the holidays extra special and the doctors and staff try very hard to make it happen.

For our members who are able to go home, instead of receiving their holiday cards and letters at the hospital, they (the cards and letters) will be forwarded to the Wounded Heroes' homes. This will allow the cards and letters to be read by their visitors, well-wishers, and extended family members who may not have been able to visit the hospital so that they too will know the amount of love and support their loved one feels as he or she opens their packet of cards.

If you want your cards to reach the OPPAL participants in time for the holidays, please make sure your submissions are post marked the first week of December. That will allow us to sort, package, and send them back out in time. Thank you SO MUCH!

Where Are They Now?
LCPL Jeff 3/5 Lima Co.

A little birdie informed us of some exciting news for former OPPAL participant, LCpl Jeff, and his sweetheart, Mandy -- they are expecting their first child next spring! Grandma is excited, and rightfully so, as they are also in the process of purchasing their new home, which will be very close to hers -- so let the spoiling of the grandchild begin!

LCpl Jeff was a part of the program from November 2010 until June 2012. For LCpl Jeff's full story, click here to visit his profile.

Mission Statement & Thank You

OperationPAL provides support -- through prayers and letters from the general public -- to military members who have been injured or become ill while serving in combat zones. This outreach program encourages support of our wounded heroes in communities throughout the United States.

Thank you so very much for remembering our wounded and ill when you write and pray. Your kindness is most appreciated!
