Watershed Environmental Poetry Festival features a stellar line-up of poets and writers: Robert Hass, Camille T. Dungy, Jane Hirshfield. Judy Grahn and guitarist/singer-songwriter Anne Carol perform Mental, a folk-opera; other musical performances include Barry Finnerty's Jazz Roots Trio. K-12 student poets from California Poets in the Schools and Poetry Inside Out will read. Also participating: artist Arthur Okamura provides ontage banners; We Are Nature open reading, River Village exhibits, presented by Poetry Flash in collaboration with the Ecology Center's Berkeley Farmers' Market and Ecocity Builders, held alongside the Farmers' Market. But for every Steve Jobs there are a million Tom Joads, and you can't get to Hollywood without passing through Chinatown. California is David Hockney and James Ellroy. It's Ansel Adams and Lindsay Lohan. It's a hipster reading Nathanael West in a West L.A. cafe. Frankenstein. Gertrude Stein.
