2014 National Council Session Updates
The 2014 National Council Session of Girl Scouts of the USA will be held October 16 - 19, 2014, in Salt Lake City, Utah. The purpose of the meeting is to:
1) Hear the report of the National Board of Directors.
2) Act on proposals and information presented to the delegation.
3) Elect the Board of Directors and Board Development Committee for the next three-year term.
4) Help set the direction for GSUSA, focusing on new strategies for success, growth and expansion in the 21st century.
Each council sends a delegation to the convention. As a National Council Delegate, all expenses (registration fees, air fare, housing, meals, etc.) are paid for by the council. If you are interested in being a National Council Delegate, please submit an application by December 20, 2013. Applications and additional information will be posted on our website. We will continue to update our website as information is received from GSUSA.
If you are interested in attending the National Council Session as a visitor, please contact Jenifer Moreau, jmoreau@gsnetx.org. Please note that visitors are responsible for their own expenses.

Using the Be a Friend First (BFF) curriculum and the aMAZE! Cadette Leadership Journey, volunteers will conduct 6-8 week series focusing on bullying prevention in selected middle schools across the council that serve largely Hispanic populations, with the goal of transitioning participating girls into traditional troops. We are currently seeking adult volunteers that would like to facilitate a series and support long-term sustainability. New Leader? Got Questions? We've Got Answers!
Visit our Troop Leader Frequently Asked Questions page for quick information on topics such as how to divide up responsibilities with your co-leader, what training is required, who should fill out a volunteer application, and preparing to meet the girls' parents/guardians for the first time.
What Would Doubling the Amount of Support You Receive From Your Troop Families do For You?
National studies show that the more clearly you define the ways that parents can help, the more likely they are to step in. If done correctly, you will build a solid support base, strengthen the girls' chances of longevity with your troop, and potentially even increase participation from your dads.
