Girl Scout Tuesday Nights at Norma's Cafe

Support the Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas every Tuesday night in February at Norma's Cafe. A portion of all proceeds on Tuesday nights from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. will be donated to the Girl Scouts to raise money for the Girl Scouts Birthday Week in March. Wear your uniform and receive a free slice of Mile High Cream Pie!™

Girl Scouts at Dallas Summer Musicals
Mary Poppins - Girl Scout Nights are March 22, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. and March 28, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. This show is recommended for all audiences, but please use your discretion.

Wicked - Girl Scout Nights are April 11, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. and April 16, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. with a cast chat back following the performance for an additional $3 per girl (free patches available from Dallas Summer Musicals). This show is recommended for audiences 8 and up, but please use your discretion.

College Journey 2013
NEW! Girl Scout Cadettes: (entering 7th-8th grades only please) June 23-28, 2013
Girl Scout Seniors/Ambassadors: (entering 9th-12th grades) July 21-26, 2013 Girls will make memories of a lifetime as they experience life on a college campus, participate in fun, hands on experiments, and get an exclusive behind the scenes tour of top companies in the area all while earning a Journey. Girls will get to network with amazing professionals who love what they do, meet other girls, and explore STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) careers. THIS IS A GREAT WAY FOR GIRLS TO EARN THEIR PREREQUISITES FOR THE SILVER OR GOLD AWARD. Cost: $350/girl. A $50 deposit is required to hold a spot. Scholarships available. TI STEM Patch
Has your daughter/troop completed the TI STEM patch this year? Free patches are still available for all girls and drawings will be held monthly for a GSNETX gift card for girls who complete all the requirements. Details are online at www.gsnetx.org/tistem.
GSNETX receives MetLife Foundation Grant for Bullying Prevention Program; adult volunteers needed to execute curriculum
The grant will be used to launch Be a Friend First (BFF), an anti-bullying program, and will allow GSNETX to provide Hispanic girls in middle school the opportunity to learn about anti-bullying efforts and self-esteem tools. The BFF program is designed to work with the aMAZE! Journey, Girl Scout's highly-acclaimed leadership program that teaches girls about healthy relationships, preventative bullying behavior and peacemaking skills. The eight-week program begins the week of Jan. 21, 2013 and will be implemented in four schools throughout the Northeast Texas:
- Ann Richards Middle School (Pleasant Grove)
- Benjamin Franklin Middle School (Dallas)
- Henry W. Longfellow Career Exploration Academy (Dallas)
- Sam Houston Elementary School (Garland)

As many of you know Cookie Season has begun and girls are working hard to sell cookies. Please make sure that all of your girls are registered so they can start their cookie season on the right foot. If you're uncertain about a girl registrations please contact either your Service Unit Manager or Membership Specialist.
Congratulations to the Colleen's Camp Celebration Winners
Six troops have won an amazing one of a kind camp experience with Colleen Walker, Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas CEO. These troops will experience archery with Colleen, S'mores by the campfire, a Girl Scout sing along, field games, trading of SWAPS, participation in a community service project, AND a special one of a kind patch designed exclusively for this event.

Nominate an Outstanding Latina Girl Scout!
El Hispano News, a local Spanish newspaper, wants to routinely feature a Latina Girl Scout in the publication that has made a difference in her community or who embodies the Girl Scout mission. We need your help in finding Latina Girl Scouts to feature in El Hispano News. It's preferable that they speak Spanish, however if not we can translate their story for them. We are looking for a range of girls in age from all over the council. If you'd like to nominate a Latina Girl Scout, please send their name, troop number, and a brief description to jyepez@gsnetx.org. Your attention and help in this matter is greatly appreciated.
