Travel Opportunities 

destinations-

Consider participating in the Girl Scout destinations program. Girl Scout destinations offer travel experiences that range from two days to three weeks for Cadettes and older. These opportunities can whisk you to the far corners of the world where you will meet remarkable girls, develop leadership skills, gain confidence and enjoy valuable learning opportunities. Trips are facilitated by Girl Scouts of the USA and hosted by individual councils and contracted organizations such as Outward Bound. This is a girl-only trip for girls 14-18 years old. If your Girl Scout will be a Cadette, Senior, or Ambassador in the year 2014, she will be eligible to attend. Share the Warmth

Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas can give back to the community through Sleep Experts' Share the Warmth Blanket Drive. Girl Scouts are asked to collect and drop off new or gently used blankets to any of the retailer's 40 North Texas locations starting Monday, October 29 -Thanksgiving Day. We also accept donations of comforters, sheets, towels, and pillows. It's a simple way to help a family in need by sharing the warmth during a difficult time! Good Turn Project

This is a collaborative project with Goodwill Industries of Dallas and East Texas to help individuals with disabilities and disadvantages that need job training. Click here for more information. Project ends October 31, 2012.

Archery

Check out the ANTS website here, password "arrows" for archery information and patches. Registration for Saturday archery at Camp Whispering Cedars is also located on the site as well as dates and times for Rangemaster classes.

Fun and Friendship Winter Day Camp

Girls in second through fifth grade are invited to Camp Whispering Cedars for a day of fun and friendship on December 15, 2012. They will participate in some of our favorite camp activities under the supervision of resident camp staff members. The day begins as girls are dropped off at 9 a.m. and the fun won't stop until they are picked up at 5 p.m. Lunch is included in the price of $25 per girl. Individual girls are welcome to register! Winter Blast Mini-Resident Camp

Do you love attending summer resident camp and wish you didn't have to wait so long to see your friends and favorite counselors? This is the camp for you! Come join some of your favorite summer resident camp staff members for an amazing weekend of activities at Camp Whispering Cedars. Girls will register individually for this event, but may request to be placed in the same cabin as 1 buddy. Meals from Saturday breakfast to Sunday breakfast, all activity supplies, and supervision by qualified staff members for the entire weekend are included in the price! Great Minds Event

Girls in grades 6-12 can come join The Winspear Opera House at the AT&T Performing Arts Center for a morning of fun exploring Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math careers. Activities include special behind-the-scenes tour, technology displays, and guest speakers. Click here for more information.

 

TI STEM Patch

The TI STEM patches have been streamlined. Each set of guidelines now has easy to follow instructions so your Girl Scout can be one of the 5,000 girls to complete this opportunity by December 2012 and receive a FREE patch! Click here for more information.

 

TI STEM Contest

All Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas girl members, troop or a Juliette are welcome to apply for a once in a lifetime opportunity through the Texas Instruments STEM patch. Any girl/troop/Juliette that completes the TI STEM patch between January 2012 through November 26, 2012 will have the opportunity to enter the drawing to win one of several prizes including a behind the scenes tour of Fox 4 studios and a limo ride. The National Engineers Week Future City Competition

Middle school students from around the nation can team with engineer-volunteer mentors to create - first on the computer and then in large, three-dimensional models - their visions of the city of tomorrow. This program offers students a fun way to build math and science skills and learn about engineering by solving the real-world problems in designing cities of the future. Invent it. Build it. Outreach Event

November 10, 2012 - Houston, TX

The best way to learn about something is to jump in and experience it - which is exactly what Invent it. Build it. is all about! All participating Cadettes will work with members of the Society of Women Engineers from around the world engaging in engineering-related activities featured on the hit PBS show, Design Squad Nation. Cookies COOKIES

What Can a Girl Do?

The power of the Girl Scout Cookie Program allows girls to make positive changes in the world around her by allowing her to speak for those less fortunate, foster changes where they're needed and have a true impact close to home, and even on the other side of the world! This Cookie season, help your Girl Scout unleash the power of the Girl Scout Cookie Program and make the world a better place. Make sure that your Girl Scouts are registered and poised to participate in the Cookie Program! Order taking begins on January 11, 2013.

 

The Cookie Program is a unique experience for GSNETX volunteers & we want to make sure that you are prepared to assist your girls in the most successful Cookie Program yet! The world of cookies is ever-changing so be sure to sign up for training so you can learn about all of the upcoming adjustments in 2013. SU Cookie Coordinator training will be held on various dates through the first week of November - signup at www.gsnetx.org/myaccount. Troop Cookie Manager training will be online again this year and available mid-November. If your troop has already chosen a Troop Cookie Manager for the 2013 Cookie Program, please ensure that he/she has completed a Volunteer Application and Criminal Background Check at www.gsnetx.org/applynow as an updated volunteer record is required to register and complete the course.

It's Almost Cookie Time!

Information about the Girl Scout Cookie program will begin to be shared in November. Please remember that every girl must be currently registered to participate in the cookie program. Girl and Adult registrations should be submitted to your Service Unit Registrar or your Membership Specialist at your local service center.

Win a Troop Camping Experience with CEO Colleen Walker!

We have an amazing opportunity for six Troops to win a special camp day experience with our CEO, Colleen Walker. "Colleen's Camp Celebration" will be held on Sunday, April 7th (times and more details will be published at a later date to the winners.)

 

Winning Troops, their leader, and safety-wise adults will be able to attend this event that includes Archery with Colleen, s'mores by the campfire, a Girl Scout sing along, field games, trading of SWAPS, participation in a community service project, AND a special one of a kind patch designed exclusively for this event.

 

In Addition: We will give a special Girl Scout "goody basket" to both the SU Managers and Registrars who reach their December girl goal by 11/30/12.

 

To qualify for the prize:

Troops who have registered by 11/30 (in only those SUs that have reached their December goal by 11/30) will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win this unique opportunity. One troop will be selected for each regional Area so there will be a total of 6 winning Troops. And we will be notifying the winning Troops by 12/15/12.
