Greetings!

Approximately a year ago, we set a goal to increase communication with the SDITE membership by increasing the frequency of The Connector to a monthly newsletter.  The intent was to provide information about ITE, SDITE, and other transportation happenings and issues and keep them as current as possible without being too overwhelming.  We also aimed to make it entertaining (and a bit silly at times) to keep you reading from beginning to end.  We hope we've been able to balance the important items with the not-so-important items.

Based on the statistics we obtain from our provider, we appear to have a consistent number of readers each month and the feedback has been generally positive.  However, we have a chance for you to give us some additional feedback.  Therefore, if you have a minute, please take a minute to fill out this brief survey. Please be honest, especially if you like it.  But we'll take the negative as well (but try to be constructive!!).

Finally, we're always looking for volunteers and / or articles.  If you want to help out, let us know!

Take care!

- Scott Walker, Editor

Reminder:  It's Outreach Month

Don't forget that October is Outreach Month!  We are challenging the SDITE Membership to do one presentation to whatever age group they see fit (elementary, middle, high, or college).  Even if you can't get to it this month, go ahead and get it scheduled and then do it in November -- we won't be upset!

And send us updates / pictures if you are able to do some Outreach -- we'd love to know how it goes! For reference, your editor is scheduled to do presentations to a second grade class as well as a pre-school class.  Wish me luck :)

13.  Three Interesting Facts About You:

1.  Excuses are for losers... When my oldest son was born and we needed diapers and baby formula and the engineering job I had was not cutting it financially, I perfected the art of "dumpster diving" for aluminum cans.  After my engineering job, I worked nights at Kroger bagging groceries and stocking products.  Late at night or early weekend mornings, I'd go to campus areas to find aluminum cans for recycling money.

2.  Aside from owning CCS, I own a commercial cleaning business with Tabitha.  We also own a few rental properties as well.  We plan to purchase 1 or 2 additional properties each year for the next 10 years.

3.  Each year we host "The Annual Cummins KY Derby Party" on the first Saturday in May where we have around 80 folks over to our house from as far away as Florida... Y'all need to come and bring some friends.
