Greetings!
We hope you didn't mind that we were one week longer in publication this month. If you were looking for us, we're sorry! But hopefully better late than never.
This is late September, which means that October is just around the corner. And if you read last month's edition, you will know that October is Outreach Month. How about a few FAQs?:
Q: What is Outreach Month?
A: October has been deemed Outreach Month by the SDITE Information, Communication & Outreach (IC&O) Committee in which we are challenging the SDITE Membership to do one presentation to whatever age group they see fit (elementary, middle, high, or college).
Q: Am I Required To Do This?
A: Of course not. However, we strongly encourage it!
Q: Do I Need to Start From Scratch?
A: No! Presentations are on the website that can be used and modified.
Q: Who Should I Contact With Questions?
And if you do decide to do a presentation, drop us a note and let us know how it went!
Take care!

Leadership Update
Last week, the Kentucky Section held the first of its two sessions of the SDITE Leadership Course. Consisting of 15 attendees, the workshop began on Monday afternoon and wrapped up around noon the next day.
Special thanks to Dan Turner, Bill Seymour, and Ron Herrington for being the initial presenters. And we look forward to the second session in mid-October.
If you haven't been through the class in your own Section, keep your eyes and ears open. It is a great course with plenty of good reading material and interactive discussion. |

Transportation + Art
Recognizing that infrastructure can affect our local communities by creating a sense of place, the next several issues of The Connector will feature transportation projects with an artistic side.
North Carolina artist David Wilson designed collage art for six bus shelters along Beatties Ford Road in Charlotte, NC. The glass windscreens reflect the heritage and character of the local Historic West End community. Photo: JoAnn Sieburg-Baker, 2013.

We all love mascots, right? Wildcats, or Tigers, or Bulldogs -- they are staples at sporting events at any level. However, unless you've seen this video before, I'm doubting you've see anything like it. Enjoy!
