LaGuardia Rail
Construction of an AirTrain connection to LaGuardia Airport is part of the New York infrastructure plan announced by Gov. Andrew Cuomo. At an estimated cost of $450 million, the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority will build a rail connection that links LaGuardia with Mets-Willets Point Station in Queens and provides access to both the subway and Long Island Rail Road, according to Cuomo. Currently, LaGuardia is accessible only by car or bus. The announcement did not include a timeline for the project.

TECHNOLOGYCORNER FCC warns hotels about blocking personal Wi-Fi
Saying that its enforcement office has seen a "disturbing trend" of hotels and other commercial establishments blocking consumers from using their personal Wi-Fi hotspots, the Federal Communications Commission issued a warning this week that such action is illegal. The FCC did not get more specific than that, but said that it will "protect consumers by aggressively investigating and acting against such unlawful intentional interference." The FCC's advisory reiterated what the bureau stated when it fined Marriott International $600,000 last October after an investigation revealed that the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville blocked the personal WiFi of a meeting attendee - that blocking personal WiFi is a violation of Section 333 of the Communications Act of 1934. The section states, "No person shall willfully or maliciously interfere with or cause interference to any radio communications of any station licensed or authorized by or under this Act or operated by the United States Government." The FCC said that if individuals have reason to believe their WiFi hotspot has been blocked, they can file a complaint to the FCC, providing as much detail as possible about the incident (date, time, location and possible source).
