Catholic Schools Week Celebration
January 28 - February 1, 2013
Catholic Schools Week at Resurrection included a rousing Winter Pep Rally, a reflective Retreat Day, a display of talent at the Student Council V-Show and worship at the all-school Liturgy. On Friday, February 1, we also welcomed over 25 alumnae at our annual Alumnae Career Day as so many talented women shared their work and life experiences with our students.

ResFest 2013 Indoor Block Party Hosted by Dick Biondi
Join us for Summer Fun in February!
We are gearing up for the Res Fest 2013 Indoor Block Party Hosted by Dick Biondi on Saturday,
February 16 from 6 pm to midnight at Resurrection. We hope that you will plan to attend this fun and affordable evening with family and friends -- fun foods (including La Adelita's Mexican Food, Smokey's BBQ and more), Goose Island beers, raffles and games to help chase away the winter blues... and Dick Biondi!
All adults, 21 and over, are invited to join us at our annual winter fundraising event! This is our MAJOR FUNDRAISING EVENT for the school year

Senior Gabrielle Carsello named as National Merit Finalist
Congratulations to Resurrection College Prep High School senior Gabrielle Carsello who has been named as a Finalist in the National Merit Scholarship Program. The finalists represent less than 1% of high school seniors in the United States, including the top students in each state. One of the goals of the National Merit Scholarship program is to promote a wider and deeper respect for learning in general and for exceptionally talented individuals in particular. We are proud of Gabrielle and congratulate her on this prestigious recognition! |
1st Place Resurrection WYSE Team!
Congratulations to the Resurrection Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering (WYSE) team and coaches on a First Place win in the regional WYSE competition on Friday, February 1. We are proud of our students on this outstanding achievement!

Congratulations to the Bandits Bowling team on claiming their 7th consecutive GCAC championship title on January 26 Luisa Velez was named the GCAC Bowler of the Year. This is the 2nd time in 3 years that she has been honored with this award. The following bowlers were named to the GCAC All-Conference team: Sami Comiskey, Jenny Voss, Joelle Denver, Alicia Gamboa, Luisa Velez.
The Varsity Bandits Bowling Team took 6th place at Sectionals at Arlington Lanes on February 2. Way to go, Bandits!

Winter Athletic Banquet
The Winter Athletic Banquet will be on Wednesday, February 20 at 6pm at Victoria Beau Jolie. Tickets must be reserved in advance by February 15. Spring Athletic Tryouts
Soccer, Softball, Waterpolo and Lacrosse tryouts will begin the week of February 25. Check the schedule for the full list of dates and times.

1st Semester Honor Roll
Resurrection College Prep High School students have been named to the honor roll for the1st semester (August 2012 to December 2012) of the 2012-2013 school year. The Resurrection grading system is based on a grade point average (GPA) in which an A in a college prep class equals 5 points. Students with a GPA of 4.51 or higher are recognized with first honors; those students with a 4.00 - 4.50 GPA are recognized with second honors.

Resurrection will celebrate World Languages Week from February 19 to 22. The theme is "World Languages: They Nourish the Brain." Check out the activities that are scheduled for the week.
Share a favorite family recipe with the Resurrection Community. Download the Recipe Card Template at the bottom of the World Languages page on our website, add your own family recipe, and submit to a World Languages Teacher by February 14.

Registration for 2013-14 School Year
Parents, please be aware that freshman, sophomores and juniors will receive the Registration Bulletin for the 2013-14 school year on February 21 and 22. Your daughter's Advisor will contact you to set up an appointment for registration for the 2013-14 school year. Registration appointments may be made for Wednesday, February 27 or Thursday, February 28. The $200 registration fee is due prior to registration.
If students are contemplating Advanced Placement courses, parents and students can search any college and find out what AP score is necessary for college credit. This link can be found on the Guidance page of the Resurrection website.

The Resurrection production of Twelve Angry Women was selected for performance at the Illinois State High School Theatre Festival at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign on January 10-12, 2013. As the cast and crew received a recognition plaque at the Festival they were commended for the strength of their performance. Seniors Abbie O'Donnell and Danielle Malenock received numerous scholarship offers from several colleges and universities based on their auditions at the Theatre Festival.
On a musical note, Resurrection Honor Band members Siobhan McManus, Kathryn Moro and Hannah Zver represented Resurrection and performed at the 2013 Vandercook College of Music All Catholic Honor Band Music Festival on January 19, 2013. Also on January 19, the Chicago Catholic Forensics League announced the prestigious CCFL Top Ten competitors. Capturing honors in Oral Interpretation of Literature: Poetry and Prose was Resurrection Forensics team member junior Sarah Thelen. At the IHSA Individual Events competition on February 2, Sarah Thelen continued to shine in the category of Oral Interpretation of Literature: Poetry Reading where she was named a Regional Finalist.

Cinderella Cast Announced
The Resurrection Theatre Department will present Rogers and Hammertein's musical Cinderella on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, March 21, 22 and 23 at 7pm.

Run for Res 5K Fun Run/Walk
Save the date for the second annual Run for Res 5K Fun Run/Walk on Saturday, April 20, 2013. Runners, walkers and families are all welcome. Registration is coming soon!
