Hawaiian Scene Things are progressing quickly for my upcoming move to Kauai in September.  Many of you have been asking about how things are going, so here's your up-to-date progress report!

My house here in California has been sold, and escrow closes this week.  I'm starting to sell off my furniture and personal items.  For example, a woman who came to buy a harp last week also bought my comfy recliner chair!  As you can see, if an item is not going to Hawaii, I'm trying to be sure it finds a good home.

We've already sold out of a significant number of products from our catalog, so don't wait!  If there's something you've been thinking of getting, now's the time to take advantage of our amazing sale!

Next month we'll be progressing to "phase two."  Some of our orders will start to be processed through our new fulfillment center.  Also, some of the books that we originally discontinued will be added back onto our web site.

Remember, I am NOT RETIRING. I'm still here to help you and offer you high-quality harp products.  I'll just be doing it soon from beautiful Kauai, Hawaii!

For those of you who missed my announcement about my move a few months ago, you can read all about it by clicking on the Hawaiian shirt on the home page of www.harpcenter.com.

Article2Cool New Products from Dusty Strings

Dusty Strings has recently announced two new products. We're excited to be able to share them with you.

#1. Lever Caps for Loveland Levers Loveland Lever Caps

Playing harp in low-light situations can make it tough to see the levers. The Color Rings help, but not always enough. Now, here's a durable and effective solution. Pressing on a set of Lever Caps will make any size of Loveland lever quick and easy to find and flip. Custom made in red, blue and black, these small vinyl caps are designed to press over the ends of the Loveland lever handles. The red and blue caps clearly mark your C and F strings and provide a strong visual reference that can be a real help in low-light situations. The black caps cover the rest of the levers for a consistent look and feel. Lever caps also give the levers a softer, "grippier" feel.  Each package contains 33 black, 8 red and 8 blue caps - enough for a 40-string harp, plus a few extras. These caps fit on all types of Loveland levers, including the new levers with the wider handles. Easy installation instructions included.

#2.  Jack Clamp for Dusty Strings Pick-Upsjack clamp

We absolutely LOVE the Dusty Strings pick-ups!  You can use them on Dusty Strings harps, most other lever harps and even pedal harps!

Have you been thinking of getting one of these amazing pick-ups for your harp, but you were reluctant to drill a hole in the back of your harp?  Dusty Strings has come up with a clean and elegant solution: The Pick-up Jack Clamp. This easy-to-use, repositionable clamp is designed to accept a standard Jack Clamp in harps 1/4" jack and is adjustable to fit a wide variety of lever and pedal harps. The lower soundhole is a suggested installation location, but your harp may have internal braces or features that would accept the jack clamp just as well. The rubber padding on the inside faces of the clamp will grip any surface and hold the clamp firmly in place without harming the instrument. You can experiment to find the location that works best for you.

The Dusty Strings Pick-Up comes in 3 sizes, depending on the size and type of harp:  pick-up for 26-string harps, pick-up for 32 to 36-string harps, and a pick-up for pedal harps. We give you a $15 discount when you purchase the jack clamp along with any size Dusty Strings Pick-Up.

A SPECIAL BONUS FOR YOU!  The new Loveland lever caps, the new jack clamp AND all 3 sizes of Dusty Strings Pick-Ups (26-string, 32 to 36-string, and pedal harp) are part of this month's 15% off sale!  To get the discount enter the code word beach in the Promo Code box on your shopping cart page and click "Enter Code". For more information, see the "Save 15%" section at the bottom of this newsletter.  Sale ends July 25th.
winnerReview-It Winner

Rubber Rings This month's Review-It winner is Joanna Mell from Corona, California for her review of our colored rubber rings.

"You may think that these handy little rings are just for beginners - or intermediate players. Even seasoned professionals need them, and they really came in handy during the preparation and performance of some tricky harp parts for my performance with the John Alexander Singers at the Orange County Center for Performing Arts recently. The harp parts required some quick and challenging lever changes and I used the red and blue rings to give added visibility for my C and F levers, and the yellow and white rings for the tricky flips on some of the D, E and A levers. I had to be PRECISE and FAST with the lever changes. NO fumbling. The colored rings on the levers helped immensely during the learning of the pieces and the performances especially under those pesky stage lights. I now call them my "lifesavers"! Thanks so much Sylvia for carrying these!"

Here's what Joanna told us about herself. Joanna Mell

"I am enjoying my beautiful mahogany Voyageur harp.  I love its full, rich tone and sparkling treble.  I have been using it professionally both as a therapeutic harpist on staff with a local hospice, and also as a Celtic harpist.  Recently, I was hired to play some challenging pieces in a concert with the John Alexander Singers at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Orange County last March.  These pieces were for solo harp and choir and had numerous lever changes in them.  Being a seasoned professional performer, I knew that I would need to be right on with the lever changes - very fast and very accurate.  This is a challenge because the stage light situation can sometimes create a dark space on certain parts of the harp, and the levers on this harp are black.  The colored rings were a huge help.  I used the blue and red rings to identify the F and C levers, so that I could change keys accurately and quickly; and used the white and yellow rings for the many accidentals that occurred in each piece.  As a result, the performance went very smoothly and Mr. Alexander was impressed.  Having the colored rings on the levers gave me the confidence and ability to play well. " - Joanna

The colored rings and also the yellow and white accidental rings are part of our 15% off beach sale! To get the discount enter the code word beach in the Promo Code box on your shopping cart page and click "Enter Code". For more information, see the"Save 15%" section at the bottom of this newsletter.  Sale ends July 25th.
