Matt's House Meeting
The Common Council will meet as a Committee of the Whole to discuss the Matt's House on January 11th at approximately 7:30 p.m. at City Hall following the regular 7:00 p.m. City Council meeting. The Matt's House is located at the intersection of Main Street and Verona Avenue. The City acquired the property in early 2015 as part of the property, not including the house, is needed for the future expansion of the intersection. The house needs significant repairs to make the building a functional structure including repairs to the foundation, exterior, and mechanicals. Since the City acquired the property, the City removed the leaking skylights and removed part of the porch in an attempt to prevent water from entering the building. The City also placed holiday light decorations on the property for the holiday season.
At the January 11th meeting, the Common Council will discuss the property and provide direction to Staff as to what should be done with the remaining land which includes the house. Public comment at the meeting will occur around 7:30 p.m. If you are unable to attend, the meeting will be broadcasted on the City's YouTube channel. If you have any questions about the meeting or the property, please contact Adam Sayre, Director of Planning and Development, at 608-848-9941.
