Holiday Events at the Library
Food for Fines:
The Library is again doing the Food For Fines, Fine Amnesty for overdue items. Every non-perishable food item is worth $1.00 in overdue fines. All food will be donated to the VANN food pantry. The amnesty runs through December 31, 2014.
Santa Visits the Library:
Wednesday, December 10, 2014, 5:30 p.m. Photos with Santa will be available and music will be provided by the Verona Area High School band and orchestra.
Meet Santa's Reindeer:
Saturday, December 13, 2014, 3:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Get your picture taken and enjoy hot chocolate and crafts in the library!

2014 Property Tax Payment Information
The City of Verona collects property taxes for five taxing jurisdictions. The bill includes tax amounts for the State of Wisconsin, Dane County, Verona Area School District, MATC, and the City of Verona. The overall tax rate for properties in the City of Verona is a decrease of 4.4% compared to last year. Additional information on the tax rates will be included with the tax bills.
Property tax bills will be in the mail no later than December 15. You may also view or print your tax bill online.

City of Verona tax bills may be paid in two installments. The first installment is due by January 31, 2015, payable to the City of Verona Treasurer. The second installment is due by July 31, 2015, payable to the Dane County Treasurer. Payments received or postmarked by December 31, 2014 will be credited as a 2014 payment.
Payment Options
By Mail: Make checks payable to the City of Verona Treasurer. Please provide a separate check for payment of real estate taxes. Payments for personal property tax bills, dog licenses or water utility bills should be paid with separate checks.
Online: Go to www.officalpayments.com and follow the instructions provided. For payment by credit card the fee is 2.75% of the taxes being paid. For payment by electronic check the fee is $2.75. The system will calculate the fee and display the amount prior to authorization. Drop Box: A drive-up box is located in the parking lot in front of the City Center and a second drop box can be found in the main entrance of the City Center.

Lottery Credit
The lottery credit applies to real estate occupied by the owner as their primary residence on January 1, 2014. The lottery credit will be on the property tax bill if previously certified. If not previously certified, a form is available at the City Center or may be downloaded here. Complete and sign the form and submit with your tax payment. Lottery forms must be in our hand no later than January 30, 2015. We cannot accept a postmark date for lottery credit application forms.

Operation Toy Drive
The Verona Police Department is partnering with Verona Farm & Fleet and 101.5 WIBA-FM for the annual "Operation Toy Drive" on December 10th and 11th, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
We invite you to join us at the Verona Farm & Fleet, 600 Hometown Circle, Verona, WI to donate a new toy for this worthy cause.
The Verona Police Department will collect donated items and assist with distributing them at the Verona Area School District's Helping Hands Holiday Gift Donation on December 17, 2014, from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., at the Verona Area High School, 300 Richard Street.

2015 Dog Licensing Information
All dogs more than the age of five months are required by State Statue and City Ordinance to be vaccinated against rabies and licensed. Licenses may be purchased at City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. A rabies vaccination certificate must be presented before a license will be issued. The license fee is $15.00 for neutered or spayed dogs and $20.00 for dogs that are not neutered or spayed.
Dog licensing information will be mailed to all dog owners on record for 2014. The 2015 Dog License form is available at the City Center or may be downloaded here.
You may register your dog at the City Center Administration office or purchase your license through the mail by sending a current rabies vaccination certificate, a self -addressed stamped envelope and a separate check made payable to the City of Verona Treasurer. You may mail your 2015 dog license form and information to City of Verona, Attn: Dog License Applications, 111 Lincoln Street, Verona, WI 53593. We will mail you your new dog tag.
