Lincoln Street Reconstruction
Reconstruction of Lincoln Street began the week of May 19. The project limits are from William Street to the south end of Lincoln Street. Included in the project is Oak and Holiday Court. The work consists of replacing the water main, hydrants, and water services. We will remove all of the existing curb and gutter, driveway approaches, existing asphalt pavement and base course. Then we will install fabric, crushed aggregate base course, pour new curb and gutter, driveway approaches, pave the street with new asphalt and restore any disturbed lawn areas. The project is slated to be completed by September 1, 2014. Lincoln Street will be open to local traffic at all times during the construction.
Wisconsin History Tour Exhibit
Verona Public Library
August 2 - 28, 2014
The Wisconsin Historical Society brings the Wisconsin History Tour: Sharing Wisconsin's Stories One Community at a Time to the Verona Public Library. The Tour represents a major, multi-year outreach effort for the society.

The Tour includes an exhibit that will be on display for the month of August. The handcrafted exhibit shares pieces of collections gathered since the founding of the Society in 1846 - ranging from a Civil War Soldier's lettters home, to early 20th Century photographs of Door County, to maps dating back to 1513, to the Racine story of malted milk, to maritime stories of shipwrecks in the Great Lakes.

In addition to the exhibit, the third week of the tour - August 19 to 23 - offers five days of history-related programming and events for the whole family including presentations and workshops on genealogy, book talks and signings, craft activities for kids, and bike rides on Verona's great biking trails. The week of programming concludes with a family-fun day called Old World Experience: Verona that offers a variety of activities related to one-room schoolhouses including schoolyard recess games.
