Registration Opening Next Week for WRRC 2015 Annual Conference: Indigenous Perspectives on Sustainable Water Practices
Registration for the UA Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) 2015 Annual Conference, "Indigenous Perspectives on Sustainable Water Practices," o pens next week. The conference, hosted in partnership with the Gila River Indian Community, will be held June 9-10 at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler, Arizona.

Two Brown Bags During National Groundwater Awareness Week, Mar. 8-14
Now well into its second decade, Groundwater Awareness Week, Mar. 8-14, spotlights one of the world's most important resources - groundwater. Arizona is dependent on groundwater for approximately 40% of the water it uses annually. To raise water awareness during National Groundwater Awareness Week, the Water Resources Research Center will host two Brown Bag talks. On Mar. 9, speakers from Tucson Water-Jeff Biggs, Interim Deputy Director, Fernando Molina, Public Information Officer, and Wally Wilson, Chief Hydrologist-will present, "Tucson Water Recycled Water Program." On Mar. 11, Gary Woodard will speak on "The Surprising Slide in Domestic Demand: Be careful what you wish for." Both presentations will be held beginning at noon in the WRRC's Sol Resnick Conference Room, 350 N. Campbell Ave. More here.

Navajo Historian Harry Walters to Present Closing Address at WRRC Conf.
Navajo Historian Harry Walters has agreed to present the closing keynote address at the 2015 Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) Annual Conference, "Indigenous Perspectives on Sustainable Water Practices." He will speak on "Preserving the Water History of Indigenous Lands in the Arid Southwest."
Mr. Walters is an archaeologist and a teacher at Diné College, the first tribally-controlled college in the United States. One of his greatest achievements is the creation of the Navajo Community College Historical Museum.
The 2015 WRRC conference will be held June 9-10 at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler, Arizona.

Nominations Open for WSP Graduate Student Fellowships FY2016
The Water Sustainability Program (WSP) is pleased to announce that fellowships will be offered for the 2015/2016 academic year to outstanding graduate students studying any aspect of water resources relevant to Arizona. Department heads are invited to nominate up to two exceptional candidates from their degree granting unit to compete for an award. These awards are made to encourage and support students wishing to specialize in the field of water resources. Up to eight fellowships of $10,000 each will be awarded on a competitive basis for a one-year term. All fellowship applicants must have a faculty member designated as a thesis or dissertation advisor.

Tucson C2E Accepting Applications for 2015 Grant Program
The Tucson Conserve2Enhance (C2E) Program is pleased to announce that it is now accepting applications for its 2015 C2E Grant Program. Each year C2E awards a small number of grants to local neighborhoods and organizations to enhance washes and riparian areas throughout Tucson. This funding comes from Tucson Water customer bill donations and C2E participants. Nearly 900 individuals donated to C2E in 2014 to make this grant program possible! Grants will be awarded in the range of $2,500-$7,500, and applications are due Monday, April 13th, 2015. For grant details including the application and info packet, click here.

C2E Dedication of the Palo Verde Neighborhood Pocket Park
The dedication of the Palo Verde Neighborhood Pocket Park will take place Saturday, March 14, 2015, at sunset, approximately 5:27 pm, at 330 East Fairmount Street in Tucson. Last year, the Palo Verde Neighborhood received a C2E Grant to transform a barren, desolate one-acre Tucson Water well site into a pocket park. The UA Water Resources Research Center's Conserve2Enhance (C2E) Program is known for its efforts in helping Tucson residents save millions of gallons of water while enabling funds that would have been put toward a water bill to be used for community enhancement projects. Water Consciousness Challenge Prize Final Award Ceremony
The New Arizona Prize is a philanthropic prize competition organized by the Arizona Community Foundation, Republic Media and Morrison Institute for Public Policy. Offering a prize of $100,000, the Water Consciousness Challenge will reward a strategy to raise the public's consciousness of the issue of water scarcity and Arizona's water future. Finalists will present their proposals to the panel of judges at the Final Award Ceremony, where the first-ever winner of The New Arizona Prize will be announced. The Water Consciousness Prize Final Award Ceremony will be held April 1, 3:30 - 6:00 pm, at the Phoenix Art Museum. Click here to RSVP.

U.S. Water Prize Ceremony Includes Discussion with UA Prof. Robert Glennon
On April 13, the City of San Diego, the Coca Cola Company, and the Electric Power Research Institute will be honored for their innovative and inspirational work in water at the US Water Prize ceremony at the National Geographic Headquarters in Washington D.C. The event will feature a discussion with University of Arizona' s Robert Glennon, best-selling author of Unquenchable and co-author of the newly released report Shopping for Water.
