Indigenous Perspectives on Sustainable Water Practices
Please join the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) for its 2015 Annual Conference, "Indigenous Perspectives on Sustainable Water Practices," to be held June 9-10 at the Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino in Chandler, Arizona. The WRRC, in partnership with the Gila River Indian Community, is hosting the conference to increase awareness of water sustainability efforts on tribal lands, and to provide new perspectives in the discussion of water management options to meet growing supply gaps in Arizona.The 2015 WRRC Conference will also include special recognition of the 10th Anniversary of the Arizona Water Rights Settlement.

The requirements of public participation of the European water framework directive have resulted in the development of different participatory processes in water planning in Spain. This seminar presents a critical assessment of these processes, paying special attention to their intangible results and the potential of public participation for social capacity building. Building on it, a preliminary framework for the analysis of social capacities of Tucson environmental organizations will be proposed.

Beyond the Mirage: Bringing Awareness of Arizona's Water Reality to the Public
Join the Water Resources Research Center (WRRC) on Friday, Feb. 13 for a preview of "Beyond the Mirage" - a collaborative effort by WRRC, the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, and Arizona Public Media using ClipstackTM - short video clips in a smart web architecture, a social media campaign, and a feature length documentary, all to engage citizens in learning about Arizona's water. Cody Sheehy, video producer at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, will briefly talk about the project at the WRRC Annual Chocolate Fest.

Desert Fresh Produce Safety Collaborative Field Conference
The University of Arizona Cooperative Extension is holding its 1st Annual Desert Fresh Produce Safety Collaborative Field Conference from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on March 31st in Yuma, Arizona. This unique, hands-on conference will focus on increasing collaboration between produce safety sectors, and is open to small- and large-farm producers, researchers, students, regulatory agencies, and anyone with an interest in fresh produce safety. The conference will include various workshops and field activities at the Yuma Agricultural Center. For more information, click here.

For the Love of Water: Show Some Love for Our local Rivers and Washes
This Valentine's day, stop by Borderlands Brewing Co. (119 E Toole Ave, Tucson) to enjoy a local brew, live music, and show your support for Tucson Conserve2Enhance (C2E)! C2E is a community-led program dedicated to helping homeowners and businesses conserve water. Donations to C2E provide funding to enhance our urban waterways and wildlife habitats. The event will take place Saturday, Feb. 14 from 4:00 - 10:00 p.m. A portion of purchases made during the event will help fund future Tucson C2E projects. Energy, Water, and Health Internship in Southern Costa Rica Offered
The Energy, Water, and Health Internship in Southern Costa Rica is a collaboration among the UA College of Medicine's Office of Diversity and Inclusion, the community of Longo Mai, and the Movimiento Rios Vivos. Students will learn about the close relationship between energy production, water conservation, and community health in a rural Costa Rican community while providing community service in response to community-identified concerns. AZAEP 2015 Scholarship and Grant Application Due Feb. 27, 2015
The Arizona Association of Environmental Professionals (AZAEP) seeks outstanding students for the Future Environmental Professionals Scholarship, and outstanding student groups, organizations, or class projects are invited to apply for the Future Environmental Professionals Grant.
The scholarship and grant will each carry an award of $1,500.00, plus a one-year student membership in AZAEP. Applications are due Feb. 27. For more information, click here.

The Poetics and Politics of Water: Readings by American Indian Writers
"The Poetics and Politics of Water" is a series of readings by American Indian writers organized by the University of Arizona American Indian Studies and the Department of English. T he series explores the centrality of water as a physical and metaphorical element in contemporary American Indian writing. All readings are held at 7:00pm at the University of Arizona Poetry Center (1508 E. Helen Street). Readings are free and open to the public. Learn more here.
