APW Programs Build Interest in Prevention of Stormwater Pollution

In 2014, the Water Resources Research Center's Arizona Project WET (APW) program teamed up with Pima Association of Governments (PAG) to help reach educators, children and their families about the importance of preventing stormwater pollution, which can adversely impact desert washes and wildlife. APW's Teacher Academies and Arizona Water Festivals give teachers the opportunity to learn more about impacts of stormwater pollution to apply to their classroom curricula. PAG sponsorship has allowed APW to offer additional teacher training and incentivize new water festivals throughout Pima County. The partnership helps PAG members meet state and federal regulatory requirements for stormwater quality. For volunteering opportunities or to help bring APW events to your locality, please contact APW Director Kerry Schwartz
