Arizona Project WET Receives Check for Florence Water Festival
On Monday, October 20, 2014, Warden Ron Credio of the Eyman Arizona State Prison Complex presented University of Arizona Cooperative Extension and Arizona Project WET (APW) representatives with a check from their fundraiser
conducted earlier in October. The check totaling $14,149.23 was dedicated to the Florence Water Festival to be held for Florence Unified School District fourth graders on November 24, 2014.
Arizona Project WET conducts water festivals all over the state of Arizona to raise consciousness about water resources and to encourage and educate students in elementary schools to learn about this most precious resource, and to become responsible water managers. APW's water festivals increase awareness, appreciation and stewardship of water resources through fun and interactive learning experiences.

Arizona Project WET Assists in Student-Designed Water Harvesting System
On Tuesday, Oct. 21, Tucson's Imago Dei Middle School installed a rainwater harvesting system designed by 16 of its own students in a real-world application of STEM education, through the collaborative efforts of Arizona Project WET, Blue Marble Institute, Tucson Water, Watershed Management Group and the National Girls Collaborative. Watershed Management Group volunteer Bill Wilkening and Imago Dei teacher Cameron Taylor worked with students throughout the project, including negotiating with the school's landlord to implement the design. Arizona Project WET staff worked with students, challenging them to understand Tucson's groundwater system and identify ways to quantify and reduce their home water usage.
