CALS Publishes New Water RAPIDS Report on Watershed Assessment

The UA Water Resources Research Center's Water RAPIDS program has a new Cooperative Extension Publication: "Using Watershed Assessments to Inform Planning for Rural Watersheds."

This report provides a process for developing a baseline watershed assessment and recommendations for engaging with stakeholders to assess natural resource conditions. It is based on the WRRC's broader watershed management and planning experience, and lessons learned through working with the Gila Watershed Partnership in eastern Arizona on a baseline assessment for the Gila River watershed.

WRRC Associate Director Jean McLain on Sierra Vista's KTAN Radio

Radio host Chris Dowling will question McLain on the results of her August 5th-8th workshop,
"Antibiotics in Agroecosystems: State of the Science," where top researchers from around the world will gather to discuss how common agricultural practices, such as using animal manure for fertilizer, might contribute to antibiotic resistance entry into the human food chain. One of the main objectives of the workshop is to facilitate agreement between researchers on the best methods to be used to research antibiotic resistance in soil and water. Learn more about the workshop here
