The Water Report Publishes WRRC Study on Regional Water Mgt. Cooperation

WRRC Director Sharon B. Megdal and Graduate Research Assistant Nate Delano co-authored a study recently published in The Water Report, "Regional Water Management Cooperation." 

 

The small study focused on four different models of regional water management cooperation in the West: the Southern Nevada Water Authority, the San Diego County Water Authority, the Santa Ana Watershed Project Authority, and Denver Water.

EnWaP Program Adds May 21 Yuma Workshop to Roadmap Series

The WRRC's Connecting the Environment to Arizona Water Planning (EnWaP) program has added a May 21 workshop to its Roadmap series. The workshop will be held from 12 - 4:30 p.m. at the Yuma County Cooperative Extension office (2200 W. 28th St., Ste. 102, Yuma). Over the past year, EnWaP has worked with more than 250 Arizona stakeholders to learn more about considering water for natural areas, and is now looking to build on what was learned to determine future recommendations for management and planning. 3/24: Moving Sustainability Forward - Roles for Arizona Higher Education

 

Anthony Cortese, Senior Fellow and Co-founder of Second Nature, will give a free public talk at the UA Higher Education Sustainability Conference on Monday, March 24 from 9 - 10 a.m. at the UA Student Union Ballroom. Cortese will discuss how Arizona universities and colleges can work collaboratively toward a more sustainable future. His talk is co-sponsored by the UA's WEES, WSP and REN programs. March 27 & 28: WSP Distinguished Speaker Aaron Wolf

 

The UA Water Sustainability Program will host Oregon State professor and water policy expert Aaron Wolf as part of its Distinguished Speaker Series. Wolf will give the presentation, "Shared Waters: Spirituality, Cooperation and Conflict," on Thurs., March 27 in room 216 of the Koffler Building, and will present, "Water and the Arab-Israeli Peace Process," on March 28 from 3:30 - 4:45 p.m. in Harvill 404. Save the Date: Water Scarcity - Missed Opportunity? (April 11)

The WRRC, the UA Water Sustainability Program, and Agricultural and Resource Economics will co-sponsor an April 11 talk from Mike Young, Research Chair in Environmental and Water Policy at the University of Adelaide in Australia. Young will give the presentation, "Water Scarcity: Missed Opportunity?"

Institute of the Environment Hosts Spring Fest on March 29

 

The UA Institute of the Environment (IE) will host its annual Spring Fest on Saturday, March 29 from 3 - 5 p.m. at Reid Park (Ramada No. 2). Get to know your environmental colleagues from all across campus, outside the office! Families, kids and pets are all welcome to join IE for an afternoon of recreation, socializing, good food and bring-your-own drinks. Bring a potluck dish to share.
