GNC's Summer School
Summer school at Good Neighbor Center is a very exciting time! Our resident children have the opportunity to learn about the world in which they live and take field trips to places they would otherwise never visit. Summer school is changing this year and our new program is going to open many new doors for our children! Our new summer school teacher has lesson plans that include weekly learning themes with exciting corresponding educational field trips. Some of those field trips include a trip to OMSI during Science Week and laser tag during Heroes, Villains, and Princesses Week! There is a lot of excitement about the new summer school program at the shelter and among our residents. We are very excited to have a new teacher, but there is still a lot we need. Who Cares? Unitus Cares.
Unitus Community Credit Union has a passion for helping its community and has been a community partner of Good Neighbor Center for some time now. Recently, GNC was chosen as a participating organization in the "Who Cares? We Care" campaign. When a new customer opens a checking account at Unitus, they will donate $100 to Good Neighbor Center. Sealy Donates new Mattresses to Good Neighbor Center!
Good Neighbor Center was blessed to receive a wonderful donation from Sealy Mattress Company recently. Earlier this month, Sealy donated 36 brand new mattresses to our shelter! What an amazing gift! This will give our residents a warm, comfortable place to sleep every night, hopefully making their lives a little better. A comfortable mattress is something most of us take for granted, but for homeless families, it is a luxury that they would love to have. Thanks to this wonderful and generous donation, every single person in our shelter will have this luxury and will be able to have a great night's sleep. This will not only make their stay at Good Neighbor Center more enjoyable, it will hopefully help them feel better, inside and out! Good Neighbor Center was chosen by Sealy for all of the work we do in support of homeless families in the Tigard area. Thank you, Sealy Mattress Company for your wonderful donation and for choosing to support GNC; we couldn't do what we do without wonderful community members like you!

Director's Note
A word from our Executive Director
Two weeks ago we received a nice donation of cash and helpful items from a small business in Tigard. I am pleased to say that happens all the time here. But this one resonated with me.
The donation was from Gentog LLC, which is an intergenerational daycare in Tigard where children and seniors are cared for daily. Marcie Jones and Murt Bickett celebrated their 5th anniversary in business by donating items from our Current Needs List. They delivered adult socks, diapers, wipes, garbage bags, lunch supplies and cash. These items were collected from the families that use Gentog's services. |
