Storytelling a huge success In Other Words... raises approximately $14,000 for Good Neighbor Center! Earlier this month we held our annual fundraiser, In Other Words... a night of storytelling featuring members of the Portland Storytellers Guild who generously donated their Saturday evenings to our fundraiser. While only in its second year, In Other Words... was still able to raise approximately $14,000 for Good Neighbor Center! We are so thankful to all of the supporters and donors who helped make this night such a success and who have allowed us to help so many homeless families through their generosity. We could not have done it without such wonderful people and we are so grateful to everyone who attended our event and made donations!

The Body Shop supports GNC through National Women's Day donation drive Founded in 1976 by Human Rights Activist Dame Anita Roddick, The Body Shop celebrates National Women's Day every year by supporting a charitable organization. Each store has a donation drive during the week of National Women's Day where shoppers can donate products to the organization The Body Shop is supporting. For the second year, the Washington Square Mall store chose to support Good Neighbor Center through their donation drive. In total, more than $400 in personal care items from The Body Shop were donated to the women currently living in the GNC shelter. Thank you to The Body Shop at Washington Square Mall for choosing Good Neighbor Center and to all of the customers who generously donated their purchases to The Body Shop's donation drive!

GNC Recognizes "Matthew Gross" for Volunteer of the Month
Good Neighbor Center would like to recognize Matthew Gross for his outstanding demonstration of selfless giving to our community. Matthew first contacted the GNC in May of 2012 asking how he could provide some assistance. After meeting with Matthew, I was pleasantly surprised by his charming, outgoing attitude and passion to help others.
With many project going on at the time, one being our annual fundraiser, Matthew had come at just the right time. Matthew immediately accepted the task of driving to several of the local grocery stores and coffee shops in the neighborhood, hanging fliers with information regarding our event. This took all of the afternoon and most of the next day. Matthew achieved his goal with no complaints.
