We really enjoy the enthusiasm and generosity of our volunteers, and we strive to make the Good Neighbor Center a warm, caring environment, not only for our families, but also for our team. We have all sorts of volunteer opportunities available year round. Take action below and offer your time and talents today!

 

Mary Petillo is a dedicated volunteer at the Good Neighbor Center, and has been a part of our growing family for many years. She originally started volunteering with St. James Episcopal Church, where she helped provide meals to the homeless families. Mary also helps coordinate the Adopt-a-Family program through her church.

Specializing as a professional hair dresser, Mary wanted to extend her talents to families living at our shelter. She offered her services to Good Neighbor Center and had an overwhelming outcome. Most of the families were delighted to have a free haircut offered to them. Haircuts can be an expense that exceeds many low income family's budgets.

Good Neighbor Center values self care as well as family stability. We believe that haircuts can boost a person's self-esteem in turn they seem to be more confident.
