The Good Neighbor Center is promoting a fresh idea in the world of charity fundraisers: an evening of storytelling for grownups.  We hope to educate and entertain the audience with the ancient and honorable art of telling stories, featuring Portland Storytellers Guild members Ken Iverson, Janet Liu, Barbara Fankhauser and Anne Rutherford, along with Jack Schwab and special guests.

The event is a fundraiser for the Good Neighbor Center, which is a nine bedroom shelter that has been housing families since 1999.  In 2012, we sheltered 112 adults and 138 children. 

Our mission is to provide safe, emergency housing with supportive and empowering services for families.  We strongly believe in "giving a hand up, not a hand out."  This philosophy of promoting self-sufficiency plays out through our weekly case management meetings, assistance with housing and employment needs, weekly onsite classes, and education services for children, teens, and adults.

In Other Words... is scheduled for Saturday, March 9th at the Broadway Rose Theatre located at 12850 SW Grant Ave. in Tigard.  Doors open at6:30 pm and the program starts at 7:30.  Light hors d'oeuveres will be served.  Tickets are $25 and are available online at www.BrownPaperTickets.com/event/315079 or by calling (503) 888-2442.
