Pantry after Lakeridge Donation
Lakeridge Junior High Food Drive Collects 1000+ Pounds of Canned Goods for GNC

Teaching teenagers the merits of philanthropy is no easy endeavor.  But that did not deter Rhonda Broadfoot.  Several years ago, the Lakeridge Junior High School teacher wanted to get her students involved in the community, so she developed a canned food drive.  She turned it into a contest to engage the students: each homeroom class collected canned goods and the winning homeroom received a pizza party.

Ms. Broadfoot made sure there was more to it than merely collecting canned goods and winning a pizza party, though.  She wanted to make sure her students understood what they were doing and why they were doing it.                                                        Read More

Good Neighbor Center Receives $10,000 from Pottery Barn
GNC receives grant after being chosen for Give a Little program

In December, Pottery Barn chose Good Neighbor Center as one of 22 charities across the country to participate in their Give a Little program.  The Give a Little program supports organizations that strive to provide a safe and dignified place for homeless families to live and determined that GNC does everything possible to do just that.  As a participant in the 2012 Give a Little program, Good Neighbor Center received a $10,000 grant from Pottery Barn!

At Good Neighbor Center we will be able to do so much with this gift.  Many of the donations we receive are for specific programs, and while those donations are always needed, it can be difficult to take care of everyday expenses without undesignated gifts.  It is wonderful when we receive an undesignated gift so that we can pay salaries, fix the water heater, or pay the electric bill.  It is because of gifts like this one that we are able to do all of the unglamorous but necessary things that keep our doors open.  So thank you Pottery Barn for choosing Good Neighbor Center for the Give a Little Program!

Thank You, Whole Foods Bridgeport
Dimes for a Difference raises over $1000 for Good Neighbor Center

We want to say a very heartfelt "thank you" to Whole Foods Market Bridgeport for choosing to support Good Neighbor Center through the Dimes for a Difference program.  For every reusable shopping bag that was used at their store between October 1st and January 20th, Whole Foods Bridgeport donated ten cents to Good Neighbor Center.  Through this program they were able to raise $1,060.70 for us!  Thank you Whole Foods Bridgeport for choosing GNC and thank you to everyone who took their reusable shopping bags!
