Happy Halloween from volunteer@goodneighborcenter.org |
Greetings!
Is your candy bowl stocked full of candy for the children that will soon be knocking at your door? The October days are flying by and Halloween is right around the corner. The shelter has been creatively decorated to add some spookiness to the house.
Most of us have memories of dressing up in ghostly costumes to visit the entire neighborhood in search of treats. Having a cool costume was very important. The kids at the shelter will have great costumes too, thanks to generous community support. We especially want to thank Party City in Clackamas in that regard. Growing with Pride Preschool and Childcare will be hosting a Halloween Party at the GNC on October 26th from 1-2:30pm. Tigard High School has invited our families to come to their haunted house on Halloween night. We are all looking forward to the ghoulish fun.
Are you are interested in volunteering or donating to the Good Neighbor Center? Volunteers are always needed and donations are accepted Mon-Sun 6am-10pm. We currently are accepting donations of new or gently used clothing for families, diapers, Halloween candy, large trash bags, Thanksgiving Turkeys or Hams, day planners or calendars for the new year. For a printable list, please visit our website.
DONATE NOW- donations are tax deductible, law permitting.

Director's Note
I received a check in the mail this week for more than $60,000. It represents our quarterly distribution from the Washington County Serial Levy. Everyone complains about the government - every government - but the Good Neighbor Center could not exist without government support.
We receive funds from the five-year levy approved by county voters in May 2010. We also receive support from the County Commissioners, from the federal government, the State of Oregon and from the cities of Tigard, Beaverton and Tualatin. All together, these public sources support roughly two-thirds of our annual operating budget.
