A Letter from our Program Director,

Sarah Rudd-Lawlor.

To all the Bigs, Littles, parents, donors, friends, families and supporters that make up the Big Brothers Big Sisters community in San Luis Obispo County:

With appreciation in my heart, I want to let you know, that after 7 years with Big Brothers Big Sisters of SLO county, I have accepted a position with another Big Brothers Big Sisters agency.  My last official day with SLO Bigs will be November 8th.

I am grateful to Big Brothers Big Sisters for allowing me the opportunity to live my passion of helping children and families through these dynamic mentoring programs.  I feel honored to have worked with and learned from each of you. Every volunteer, donor and project partner has a special place in my heart.  Because of your passion, the lives of thousands of community members, including mine, have improved.  I am thankful for your friendship and dedication to youth mentoring.

I would also like to announce that Madge Morningstar will lead the program team as Interim Program Director, beginning Monday, November 11th.  She joined the agency in 2011 as our Enrollment Specialist.  Her amazing work soon earned her a promotion to Senior Program Specialist in 2012.  I hope you will join me in welcoming Madge to her new position.  I expect that she will do a wonderful job continuing to excel in reaching our goals and striving for our mission to change lives for the better, through professionally supported one-to-one mentoring relationships.

I will forever remain a supporter of my local Big Brothers Big Sisters agency and stand by the organization's vital role in shaping children and the community.

Thank you again!

Sincerely,

Sarah Rudd-Lawlor

Farewell, Sarah!

We are both sad for ourselves and excited for Sarah as she expands her service to Big Brothers Big Sisters.  Sarah has accepted a position with Family Services Agency as the Program Manager of the Big Brothers Big Sisters program throughout Santa Barbara County.

Sarah began her service here in March of 2006 and became Program Director in January of 2007.  Under her leadership, our program has seen incredible growth.  She has increased the number of children served in our Community Based program by 30% and expanded our School Based program from a pilot with 30 children to a mature program that served 182 children last year.  During her time here, Sarah has researched and rewritten our program manual, policies, and procedures to ensure the utmost child safety.  Sarah has acted on countless community committees and coalitions, and has become a local expert in the field of mentoring and asset building in youth.  Her research has made our agency a resource to the entire community and she has trained the staff at several other non-profits.

She will be truly missed, and we wish her the very, very best in her future endeavors.

Sincerely,

Anna Boyd-Bucy, Executive Director

and the rest of the staff at SLO Bigs.

WE'LL MISS YOU, SARAH!
