2016-17 Budget Workshop
Assistant Superintendent Rob Scheib reviewed the preliminary budget for 2016-17 for the board. He summarized changes in the budget caused by new legislation during the special session in June. The legislature restored state aid formulas to capital outlay and supplemental general (LOB) that will provide an additional $500,000 and $179,000 in state aid, respectively, to those funds. Those increases will be used to continue capital improvements and to offset employee salary increases.

Based on the estimated property valuation for the district, the school tax levy will remain flat at 53.594 mills. The district budget will be published with an increase in the Recreation Commission levy to 8 mills.

The board will have a public budget hearing at 7 pm Aug. 24 at the start of the regular board meeting.

A copy of the preliminary budget can be found here and paper copies are available from the Business Office.
