Superintendent Search
The Kansas Association of School Boards is currently accepting applications for the Emporia superintendent vacancy. As part of the process, KASB will be gathering input from employees and patrons on what qualities are most desirable for a superintendent. On Monday, we will post a link on the district website to a short superintendent characteristic survey.

Dialogue with Board
The Emporia Area Chamber and Visitors Bureau Government Matters Committee and the League of Women Voters will host a Dialogue with the Emporia Public Schools at noon Friday, Nov 20, at Mary Herbert Education Center. Dialogues are open to the public and free to attend. Water and coffee will be provided and attendees are welcome to bring a sack lunch.

Clothing Drive for Students
The Student & Family Resources Office is coordinating a Community Drive for Students to collect new or nearly new coats and clothing and hygiene products. All items will be donated to students through school counselors and student support specialists. See flier for details.

2016-17 EHS Courses
The board approved changes to EHS course offerings for 2016-17. The College & Career Ready website will be updated with the course changes and to reflect the district change to a trimester schedule. Counselors will begin working with students in November to make course selections for the next year.

Scholarship Funds to ECF
The board approved the transfer of endowed scholarship funds currently manged by the district to the Emporia Community Foundation for management. The ECF has investment options not available to the district that is expected to increase funds available for scholarships. The 13 scholarships will continue to be awarded to EHS seniors based on criteria established by the donors.

Consent Agenda
The board approved the following:
  • Agreement with Emporia State Federal Credit Union to continue providing ATM services at EHS
  • National trip request for EHS Family, Career and Community Leaders of America students
