FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
THE SURVIVALIST Series and John Thomas Rourke are Back!
"It's been almost 15 years since the last SURVIVALIST novel was published (by Zebra) and for those longing for a continuation of the Rourke Family, 'THE INHERITORS OF THE EARTH' is the answer to your dreams! Written by Jerry Ahern, Sharon Ahern and Bob Anderson, the action picks up shortly after events depicted in Death Watch, #27 in the series," says avid fan Stephen J. Servello.

THE SURVIVALIST series (1981-1993), written by JERRY AHERN is a sci-fi action-adventure novel. The hero of the story, John Thomas Rourke, is a survival expert, a medical doctor and ex-CIA.
The original series began with him flying back from Canada on the 'Night of the War,' when the USSR unleashes a nuclear attack upon the USA. Thrust into an evolving post-apocalyptic world, Rourke's quest was seasoned with solid characters - detailed descriptions of weapons and tactics, ethics and honor and a blending of science-fiction and science facts.

Sadly, JERRY AHERN passed away in July 2012. Earlier in the year, he and Bob Anderson, a friend and fan, began talking about ideas for bringing back the series. After Jerry's passing, Sharon asked Bob to join her in bringing the series back to life. "Sharon asked me to join her in continuing the series, I never dreamed of having the honor to do so," he said. "The task of bringing John Thomas Rourke back to life was daunting. Honoring Jerry, honoring John Thomas Rourke and his family, bringing the story back to life for past readers, and trying to appeal to new readers was the challenge."
THE INHERITORS OF THE EARTH, #30 in the series has just been released by Speaking Volumes. John Thomas Rourke's world is now roughly one-third of what it was; everything above latitude 35° north and below latitude 35° south is encased in glacial ice. The geography drastically changed but little else did. Maniacs and evil still try to dominate those who want to be free. Rourke's world is threatened again by forces he never conceived of. Are they so unpredictable, situations so dire, there is no way to "plan ahead?"
