Los Angeles County Actively Lobbying Against State "Ban the Box" Legislation
Join the LARRP Policy Committee and let the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors know that you object to its stand against Assembly Bill 218 - the "Ban the Box" legislation that recently passed the Assembly. We believe that public agencies should be model employers in the push to find employment for formerly incarcerated people. See the LARRP sample letter here and make your opinions known.
PSRT to Form Community Advisory Committee
Look for information soon from the Public Safety Realignment Team about formation of a Community Advisory Committee to provide input into realignment issues in Los Angeles County.
State Legislation Impacting Realignment
As various bills make their ways through committees of the Assembly and Senate, for the most part, efforts to repeal or significantly alter realignment are meeting defeat. Bills designed to enhance implementation continue to move forward. Watch for information about LARRP's position and sample letters on these issues by clicking here.

CalForward Presents Webinar
"Challenges Associated with the Practical Application of AB 109 Legislation"
|
Wednesday, June 5, 2013, 12 pm - 1 pm The webinar features Lisa Rodriguez, Chief of the Case Issuance and Extraditions Division, District Attorney's Office, San Diego County, who will discuss aspects of AB 109 that make it difficult, in its practical application, to achieve the full intent of the legislation. AB 109 is complex and, as is common with legislation, parts of it inadvertently require actions that run counter to the evidence-base and the intent of the legislation. This webinar will provide an understanding of key issues so that policy makers, county officials, and law makers can give careful consideration to any modifications they propose. Register Here. |
