Workshop Overview:

Focusing on RFPs issued by Los Angeles County and the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority, this half-day workshop is designed to help non-profits successfully compete for public funding.  It is geared especially for small agencies that may not have submitted prior proposals or that may not have the services of an experienced grant writer.  In an interactive format, the workshop will cover the basics of applying for funding including planning and managing the proposal development timeline, understanding the application questions and how to respond appropriately, asking questions of the funder and monitoring the responses to gain clarity, meeting insurance and other threshold requirements, and many other details that result in a successful proposal.  This workshop sold out last time, so register ASAP.

Workshop Leaders:

Steve Renahan, Senior Policy Advisor and Nicky Viola, Senior Project Manager at Shelter Partnership, Inc. will conduct the workshop.  Steve and Nicky have extensive experience designing, managing, and evaluating RFP processes for housing authorities and other public agencies.

Discover the 5 keys to success!

Most public funding opportunities require that proposing organizations demonstrate the ability to fully leverage existing community resources in both the initial proposal and the fulfillment of the contract.  This usually means developing relationships with other community service providers.  But how do you do that?  What should be the nature of these relationships?  How do you ensure that the relationships last?  These and other tough questions are the focus of this workshop.

Purpose of this Workshop

The goal of this workshop is to assist potential partners in thinking through the collaborative structure and mechanisms necessary to support multi-agency, multi-service projects.

Learning Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Design project outcomes for clients and collaboration
  • Define the type of partners that will be invited to participate in the project
  • Describe the desired project culture and governance structure
  • Define elements of operating agreements
Workshop Leader
