Summer Family Fun!

My husband, son, brother-in-law and niece riding the SpongeBob SquarePants Roller Coaster at the Mall of America

I don't know about you, but the summer is certainly going fast for me and my family. I can hardly believe we are in August and school will be starting in several weeks.

My apologies for not sending out a June Newsletter. Between

my two sons, we had soccer five days a week and some weekends, family visiting from out of state and it took us some time to acclimate to a summer routine.

I know that these years with my boys will go all too fast and I make it a priority to focus on my family once summer arrives. My clients and classes are a summer priority as well; however, my social media (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and LinkedIn) and newsletter move to the back burner.

Just think...the next time you receive a newsletter from me, school might be back in session, or almost in session!

Wishing you a safe, happy and included late summer!

Study of Kids with Asthma and Food Allergies Challenged

Dr. Allan Stillerman

According to a recent study, families of more than half of asthmatic children who tested positive for peanut allergies had no idea of their child's sensitivity. However, this study is being challenged by the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology (ACAAI). And is getting tested for peanut allergies right for your child?

Dr. Allan Stillerman, board-certified allergist with the Allergy and Asthma Network, joined KARE 11 News @ 4 to talk about the issues.

New Study Identifies Predictors of Biphasic Allergic Reactions

Do you know what to look out for in the hours after an anaphylactic reaction? In some cases after anaphylaxis, there can be a second wave of symptoms that occurs hours or even days later without another exposure to an individual's food allergen. This is known as a biphasic reaction, and a new study conducted by the Children's Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute aimed to identify the frequency and predictors of biphasic reactions.

The Monthly Buzz

Whether you're looking forward to school beginning or dreading it, you're probably wondering how the summer passed so quickly.  Fall is always exciting, and there's lots to do to get organized for it.

But the dark, cold days of winter will be here before you know it. Why not use these last days of summer to revel in a slower pace, and make some delicious memories with your child?  Here are 3 easy ideas for you.

DBV Technologies recently announced it has received the green light from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to begin a global Phase III trial using Viaskin®Peanut (also known as the "peanut patch"). This is the first time that a drug for food allergy has reached Phase III - a step in the clinical trial process during which a drug or treatment is given to a larger group of people to confirm its effectiveness and collect information that will allow it to be used safely.

What a delightful story! May we all be lucky enough to have compassionate and thoughtful people in our lives.
