AT&T, LOVE AND EL NINO - OH MY!
Time is flying and February is already here

2016 Board Chair
Somehow, the first month of 2016 is already almost in the books, but that's only because this is such a significant year. As you all know, it's Carmel-by-the-Sea's 100th birthday! We are provided with the opportunity to celebrate what a unique and beautiful corner of the world we live in all year. I hope you have taken the opportunity to purchase a commemorative lantern to help celebrate the great history of Carmel-by-the-Sea. If you haven't purchased one yet, be sure to stop by the Visitor Center to pick one up while they last.

There is so much happening locally on an international platform in February! Fans from across the country and around the world will be in the area to attend the Super Bowl at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara on Feb. 7. You can count on seeing NFL fans wearing their favorite teams' jerseys when they visit Carmel-by-the-Sea in the days leading up the Big Game and afterward as well. I know I'll will be wearing mine. (Go Broncos!) Then we have one of the most prestigious golf tournaments anywhere, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which begins Feb. 8 and concludes Feb. 14. The Chamber helps bring fans to the area and the historic tournament by providing shuttle service to and from Pebble Beach.

Then, there is one of the most romantic days of the year...Valentine's Day. We have some of the best restaurants in the world to fill your day with Love. How do you top that?

On a more serious note, we have had a great deal of activity in our village in preparation for El Nino. If you didn't have a chance to go to the State of the Chamber Breakfast to get an update on disaster preparedness, please click on www.disastersafety.org/open-for-business or www.co.monterey.ca.us/oes/ for information on what you need to do to prepare your business for disaster.

Being a Carmel Chamber member has great benefits. If you haven't renewed your membership and have questions and concerns on how the Chamber can benefit you, please don't hesitate to give Lee Larrew a call at 831-624-2522. She will be more than happy to help you.

We appreciate your partnership very much!
