We hope you had a wonderful holiday, spending time with family and friends. We can always celebrate our good fortune to live in one of the most desirable destinations in the world.
This year marks the 100th Anniversary of Carmel-by-the-Sea and the celebrations will be memorable. Stay tuned for details of the events to come. The Carmel Chamber of Commerce Visitor Center has commemorative lanterns for sale. Be sure and show your support for the heritage of our village.
I was privileged to co-chair the Awards of Excellence Gala, celebrating and recognizing those businesses that excel in quality service, products, business ethics, fostering a beautiful environment and enlightening customer service and staff relations. For the first time we awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award - to Csaba Ajan, who recently retired from PortaBella and Merlot Bistro. What an honor to congratulate each of the winners in each category. Thank you to Sarah Cruse, General Manager at the Quail Lodge, for helping to create an award-winning event. We are looking forward to seeing you at next year's event.
We have had quite a lot going on this year. We have made some progress and continue to work on difficult issues that will make us an even stronger community. This year we will be voting on a new Mayor and new city council members. We, as an organization, will continue to keep you informed.
I am proud to be a member of the Carmel Chamber of Commerce and so should you. The staff is small and extremely hard working. They are passionate about making you successful. This year's Board of Directors has some of the finest leaders in the community. Please make it a point to get to know them, as they will each of you. They are dedicated to continue the tradition of working hard on benefiting our village.
Let's make this a memorable 2016.
