President's Message
This last month has been hard for my wife Debi and me. Both our moms passed away and family is foremost on our mind these days. Our wonderful community has a quote, "A small town is like a big family." How true it is. So what does family do in time of need? They care for each other and support each other. This is truly the mission of your chamber. We care about you and want to provide ways that the community will support your business. In the near future we hope to have signs on Horseshoe Bar Road that ask all to shop locally.
Soon, 5,000 copies of our new Discover Loomis magazine will be flooding the community. It features stories of businesses in the area and a chamber directory with all our members and services. You can pick up a copy at the chamber if you don't already have one. With quarterly inspirational luncheons, monthly morning networking hours and our always entertaining mixers for meeting new and old members, we want you to see the benefit of the chamber. And please don't forget to showcase your business in one of the many display cases we have at the office. We are the visitor information center for the area and have a lot of walk-in traffic. If you're like me, when a phone book gets thrown on your drive way you throw it in the trash. Not this time. They had a big red tag on the cover that said "Buy Local". I kept it and plan to use it. So, from my family to yours, let's get out there and grow our businesses and shop local.
Henry Schneider, President

Being Remarkableshould be your goal... Remark is the operative work... Get people talking !
by Brian Hogan
You want people to talk about the good EXPERIENCE they had w your business... You want your customer to REMARK to their friends about their wonderful experience.
If their experience with your company is not "remark worthy" and the company experience down the street is better... you have a problem. To what lengths will you go to make yourself remarkable to your clients?
Paul Kiewiet says, "The only way to turn customers into fans is to be deserving. The only way to be deserving is to make such a remarkable impression and give them something new. Somewhere along the way, you'll have to make a heart connection. You'll need to change how they feel."
When you get genuinely interested in your customers problems and have a strong desire to help them solve those problems... you just might get a customer for life.
When your customers know that you are excited about helping and not just excited about making a sale, they'll be ready to buy. You need to learn what your customers want to create, accomplish, or feel. You need to understand their challenges.

The Blue Goose Event Center was abuzz with excitement recently when representatives from the hospitality industry visited Loomis to find out what the refurbished fruit shed has to offer.
According to Kristi Hensel, of Pillar Hotels & Resorts, the Leads group is comprised of hotels and inns, caterers and event venues and planners throughout Placer County.
One of the visitors was Karin Koons, director of sales for Holiday Inn in Auburn. "It's good to know what's in your backyard. I can't wait to take the tour" planned for the evening," said Koons, shown below with the Blue Goose's Pat Brechtel.
Randy Elder, president of the South Placer Heritage Foundation -- the nonprofit that owns the fruit shed -- reviewed the history of the Blue Goose. "It was built and finished in 1945 ... fruit was boxed right here," Elder said as he pointed to the spacious hall that has been upgraded with heating and air and white oak flooring from North Carolina that was distressed to look like it has been there forever. Elder said that while the event center is rustic in nature, it's suitable for any type of event. "You can have the fanciest wedding one night and the next it's a hoedown," he said.
Event caterer Randy Ubry, left, and Randy Elder of the Blue Goose network during the Leads visit to the Boue Goose.
Loomis Chamber Executive Director Jenny Knisley said the working with the Leads group will be beneficial for the Chamber and Loomis businesses. "Loomis doesn't have any hotels and a lot of people come in for event and weddings during the holidays," she said. "They call the chamber to find out where to stay." Now she will have information more readily available, such as that provided by ne Chamber member Roseville Larkspur Landing, where Heather Hilton is the senior director of sales.

SAVE LOOMIS LIBRARY

To all Chamber Members and Friends.
By now many of you have heard that the Placer County Board of Supervisors will be voting on closing down our town library. Many residents of our town rely on the library's computers to communicate with others, check out books, magazines and movies. Senior citizens are using the meeting room to get their tax returns done free of charge.
Our small town will feel the effects if they vote to shut us down. Let's not take this lying down. Please view the attached letter and write or call all 5 supervisors and ask them to please vote NO on closing our library.
Come out to the town council meeting on March 10th at the Depot if you can. And please sign the petitions around town to save our library. We may be a small town but were a big family and we need come together as one on this.
Sincerely
Henry Schneider
Loomis Basin Chamber President
