From the Library Director...
Cornwall Public Library 2015/2016 Annual Operating Budget Vote and Trustee Election
On Tuesday, April 21, voters residing in the Cornwall Central School District will have the opportunity to vote on the library's 2015/2016 annual operating budget. Staying within the tax cap, this budget supports the programs and services that the library provides to the community all year long.
Included in the budget are increases for library materials, such as books and DVDs, as well as ebooks and downloadable audiobooks, videos, and music. We find that, while demand for digital downloadable items continues to increase dramatically, there is still strong demand for books and physical audio-visual materials.
The budget also includes support for more open hours. Over the years, community members have asked for longer hours on both weekends and during the week, and the board has made this a priority in this year's budget proposal. We are working on determining which added hours would most benefit the community so that we can provide the best, most responsive service to all.
The library board remains committed to maintaining the high quality library service that you have come to expect and this budget reflects that commitment. For more information on the proposed operating budget and for details on the vote, please visit our website: (http://www.cornwallpubliclibrary.org/library-budget-vote/).
