Did you know that the Emma Hardy Memorial Home, also called the River Lighthouse, once stood on the property where the library building now stands? You will find pictures of this and other historic buildings including the Eureka Hotel, the Half Moon Inn, and Klein's Cash Grocery and General Store, in the library's digitized local history collection. By partnering with the Southeast Library Resources Council as part of their Hudson River Valley Heritage project and working with Hudson Microimaging, the library digitized 85 postcards, 10 stereoscopic cards, and one booklet, all depicting scenes from historic Cornwall and the surrounding area.
Our great thanks go to Janet Dempsey, Colette Fulton, and Barbara Devitt, who volunteered their time to help identify and give background information on many of the images. Thanks are also due to Jane Harkinson and George Kane who provided additional postcards for our project.
