Join us at the Cornwall Community Co-op Farmer's Market this summer for Market Story Time. Library staff and volunteers will be at the Market on select Wednesdays sharing stories, songs, puppets, giggles and fun.
This past Wednesday the library's Youth Services staff members Liz Fisher and Kevin Dolan delighted participating pre-schoolers with To Market, to Market by Anna Miranda and Janet Stevens. We are happy to bring stories and songs to our wonderful local resource that is Cornwall's Farmer's Market. Market Story Time will take place on select Wednesdays at 10:30 a.m. under the tree, weather permitting. The next Market Story Time is scheduled for July 2nd.
We'll see you at the Market!

 "There Was
The 124th New York State Volunteers at the Battle of the Spotsylvania Court House May 9-12, 1864
A Civil War Lecture by Charles LaRocca
at Munger Cottage
Monday, July 21 6:30 p.m.
During the first two weeks in May, 1864, the Army of the Potomac and the Army of Northern Virginia were locked in a series of bloody battles. After fighting to a draw in the Wilderness of Virginia, General Grant attempted to quickly maneuver his army to take possession of the crossroads near Spotsylvania Court House. General Lee saw the importance of that position too, and moved his men to block Grant with an elaborate series of formidable earthworks. The resulting battles over the next four days were unlike any that these two armies had fought so far.
As usual the 124th New York was in the thick of the fight, which culminated in the dawn attack on May 12th against the Bloody Angle. "We made the most magnificent and successful charge of the war," Private Henry Howell of Orange County wrote home to his mother. "It seemed as though every one was borne irresistibly forward. There was no such thing as fail."
Part of the Civil War Sesquicentennial Lecture Series
Program Supported by a Grant from the New York Council for the Humanities, the Cornwall Public Library Foundation, and Caldwell House in Salisbury Mills, NY
