Los Gatos Paper Bag Ordinance Starts on Feb 3rd
Starting February 3, 2014, Los Gatos shoppers will need to bring their own reusable bags or purchase a recycled paper bag or reusable bag for 10 cents per bag from retail stores in Los Gatos.
The Single-Use Carry-Out Bag Ordinance was approved by the Los Gatos Town Council after considering an Environmental Impact Report in which Los Gatos joined 23 other cities to study the effects of single-use plastic bags on the environment. The focus of the Ordinance is to get customers to shop with reusable bags to save natural resources and reduce waste. In order to promote a shift to reusable bags, the Ordinance requires that stores charge customers a minimum of ten cents on each recycled paper or reusable bag.
Vintages will still offer complimentary gift wrapping service, including our gift boxes and our gift bags filled with tissue. Recycled and recyclable carry out bags, however, will carry a 10 cent fee, per town ordinance.
