Ice Storm Aftermath: Truck Bodies & Equipment Shine!
Author: J.Supnet
Arguably the worst ice storm to hit the GTA, many were left without power during the holidays. Trees, cars, benches, bus shelters, just about anything outside was covered with ice. The scenery was filled with fallen trees, damaged power lines, and mobile service vehicles. Utilities, contractors and just about any company with mobile truck equipment were hard at work. These companies make up a huge portion of our customer base and seeing vehicles that we up-fitted with equipment brings a sense of pride to everyone here at DEL. Some of the up-fitted vehicles seen out there were service bodies, chipper bodies, dump bodies, and truck mounted cranes. As the clean up got under way, it was evident that help was needed, and municipalities decided to contract out some work to local businesses. Just as important as the equipment, are the men and women operating them and working tirelessly to restore the power.

I was fortunate enough to be able to take some pictures of a DEL customer who was contracted to clean up the fallen tree on my street. The company used a variety of truck bodies on site to get the job done. Whether it was hauling and unloading equipment or loading debris into a dump, they had all the tools they needed. All the truck bodies they had were from DEL which adds to the convenience of "one stop' shopping and DEL's ability to provide a complete solution.

Given the circumstances and the harsh working environment, the clean up service provided by the city, hydro companies, arborists and other contractors were amazing. A big thanks goes out to the men and women part of the repair and clean up crews for working around the clock to restore power to us all.
