Unicell: Bi-Fold Ramp
Unloading and loading equipment can be cumbersome and dangerous. It is imperative that the operator is trained and skilled at the task. When unloading and loading equipment (especially heavy equipment), the operator must take into consideration the potential harm that may occur during the process. The most important thing to consider is the safety of the operator and others in the vicinity. Another important thing to consider is the potential damage to the equipment and the property. When it comes to transporting equipment in an urban environment, infrastructure is tight and so is the room for negotiating space.
At Unicell, they are tackling the complexity and potential safety issues posed by unloading/loading equipment at the job site. Through research and development with LawnDawg, Unicell has developed a Bi-Fold Ramp option that can integrate into their fiber glass van bodies that will make unloading/loading more efficient while reducing potential safety issues.
Designed with efficiency and safety in mind , the Bi-fold ramp eliminates pinching points and deploys in seconds making it safe and efficient to use. Utilizing a combination of gas springs that require minumum force to use and minimum space to store (vertical), Unicell's 150"l x 65"w equipment ramp can hold up to 3000lbs! The low ramp angle of only 13 degrees means no "running start" is required to load equipment, while reducing equipment damage and dangerous heavy lifting.

Thoughts from a DEL Rep...
 | | Roman Ptasiuk |
Last night I attended my son Kevin's high school graduation and as I sat waiting for his name to be called to come up and accept his diploma, I imagined what career path the graduates would be pursuing. As they announced the students accomplishments' in math, science, business and the arts along with their grade point averages, I think that in 4-6 years we will have a talented pool of individuals ready to contribute to society in the career paths they decide to follow. Many students start in one direction and end up in a totally different field than they had planned. Life often surprises us and sends us into many twist and turns, how we survive and endure them is what makes us successful.
Being in the truck equipment business all these years, I have developed a huge amount of respect and appreciation for the trades people that have started their own businesses. When I pull into their yards and businesses and see their fleet of trucks, I know there is a man or woman sitting in each of these trucks. They build, fix, and maintain our roads, our buildings, our bridges, our sewers, and our parks to make sure that our quality of life remains comfortable, convenient, and beautiful.
I have a feeling of pride every time I see a truck with a DEL or Unicell body on the back of it and knowing that we were instrumental in helping our customer become successful. Speaking to some graduates last night I was impressed on how many of them wanted to choose trades for their career paths. Incidentally my son Kevin has enrolled at Centennial College in their electrical program. I am very proud of my son and hope that maybe one day he will be one of the graduates of 2013 that starts a business as well.
Congratulations! to all the parents out there that have sons & daughters graduating, I wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
