Legislative Update
The Living Donor Protection Act H.R. 5263

... was introduced on July 30th, 2014, by Representative Jerrold Nadler (D- NY) and Representative Michael Burgess (R-TX) to the House of Representatives and we need your support to get it passed! The bill will protect living donors from insurance discrimination, promote education about living donation, make it unlawful for insurance companies to decline, terminate, limit coverage or charge higher premiums for life, disability or long-term care insurance policies because of someone's status as a living organ donor. The bill clarifies that living organ donors may use time granted through the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to recover from transplant surgery.

Take some time during this month and check your congressional representatives schedule. It is an election year and they will be out campaigning to collect votes. August recess is prime time for them. We have 3 Bills that can use their support and we need all hands on deck to get the message out.

Sincerely,
