Two weeks ago, I was in Detroit. Last weekend I was in the Schenectady-Albany area. I learned a couple things on these journeys.

First (and something I already knew), there are passionate, prophetic, justice-seeking people of faith in every corner of our connection. Visiting places like Detroit and Schenectady simply reaffirms this knowledge and sets a fire in my heart.

Second, I learned that the work I do to educate about the Methodist Federation for Social Action doesn't simply mean talking about our mission. It means telling truths about our abilities and our capacities - and our hopes and dreams! Check out our 2014 Annual Report for a better picture of MFSA.

Then consider becoming a member. If there's a local chapter to connect you with, we'll even return a portion of that gift to them so they can be engaged locally and include you in their work! Together we are justice-seeking people of faith!

Seeking justice,

TWO UPCOMING WEBINARS OF INTEREST
If You Care About Economic Justice, You Should Care About Reproductive Justice...

When: Wednesday, October 14, 6:00-7:00 p.m. Eastern
The reproductive justice movement places reproductive health and rights within a social justice and human rights framework. The movement supports the right of individuals to have the children they want, raise the children they have, and plan their families through safe, legal access to abortion and birth control.
Questions? Email Caitlin Gullickson at cgullickson@nwlc.org

This webinar will be followed by one on racial justice on November 4. To learn more, or to view material from our previous webinar on transgender rights, please visit:

Global Connection Plan

There will be numerous proposals presented at General Conference. One of many is the Global Connection Plan, developed by the Northeastern Jurisdiction Global Structure Task Force (a group selected by the College of Bishops after Jurisdictional Conference 2016). To educate more broadly about this plan, attend their upcoming webinar.

When: Tuesday, October 27, 7-8pm ET

NOTE: MFSA has not officially endorsed any restructuring plan. We are sharing this webinar for information only.
MFSA PROGRAM COUNCIL AND BOARD MEETING
October 24-26, the Program Council and Board of Directors of the Methodist Federation for Social Action will be meeting in Washington, DC. We will be setting program directives, receiving chapter leadership training, and community organizing training, along with setting the 2016 budget and selecting new board members (and celebrating those who are rotating off the board)!

Please keep those traveling to Washington, DC in your thoughts and prayers.
WHILE ON THE ROAD...
While on the road last weekend, our executive director was spotted with a group of interfaith clergy and people of faith outside the Planned Parenthood in Schenectady, NY. Reproductive health, choice, and justice are central to the work of the Methodist Federation for Social Action, as this work is stands at the intersection of women's rights, LGBTQ rights, economic justice, and religious freedom.

PREPPING FOR GENERAL CONFERENCE
Yesterday was the deadline to submit legislation for consideration at General Conference. So many submissions were made that the online platform shut down and final submission had to be made by email! Once all legislation is published, look for MFSA's analysis (think early January).

In the meantime, start thinking about coming to Portland next May to help MFSA and the Love Your Neighbor Coalition provide legislative tracking, witness, and support to justice-seeking delegates. You can register to volunteer now!
