It has now been two months since I proudly assumed the presidency of the Royal Society of Canada. Since my appointment last November, several positive events have taken place. First and foremost, thanks to the Walter House Committee and the Council, and especially the dedication of our Executive Director, Ms. Iris Almeida-C�t�, Walter House, the home of the Royal Society of Canada, is now ready to welcome you. The Royal Society of Canada was approached by Minister of Science, the Honourable Kirsty Duncan, for advice on the role of the future Chief Science Officer (CSO) in Canada. Read the response from the RSC. 


The nomination period for the 2016 cohort of the College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists closes March 15. Nominate a deserving scholar today!


Fran�oise Baylis, FRSC, has written a Canadian Perspective on an Expert Panel report from the National Academies in the United States. The report is on Mitochondrial Replacement Techniques: Ethical, Social and Policy Considerations.



The renovation and restoration of Walter House was completed on schedule and on budget during the December vacation period.

Fellows/Members who have outstanding dues have been mailed a statement of account in the last few weeks. We ask that those who have an amount owing settle their accounts before our 2016 dues notices are sent out in April.
