I hope 2014 brings a lot of good things to all of you.
2013 was a both a good year and a difficult one for me. On the good side business was good and continues to get better. On the down side I have had to deal with Audrey's unexpected illness.
The event that preoccupied me the most for 2013 was Audrey's cancer diagnosis in April, Stage IV Lymphoma.
From April to June I was taking Audrey in for weekly Chemo Treatments and then Bi-weekly treatments until December.
We are still fighting the battle but Audrey's spirits are good and she does not look like she is sick nor act like it. We continue our training in Nosework and Tricks and she goes to all my classes and helps me do lessons with dog-reactive dogs.
In July Audrey got her NW1 Title (Nose Work 1) in Guerneville, CA. She won 1st Place in Interior Search and 2nd Place in Vehicle Search.
We traveled to San Pedro, CA in November to compete for our NW2 title but fell short. It was very difficult trial, only 3 dogs out of 34 entered titled. Audrey found 4 out 8 hides which wasn't bad considering the difficulty of the trial.
We will try again for our NW2 in February of 2014.
During 2013 I launched 4 Specialty Classes: Nosework, Canine Good Citizen, Tricks, and Off-Leash. The classes were a big hit and I hope to repeat them in 2014.
I am starting a 6 week Nosework class on February 5th. See below for details.
Suzy and I treated ourselves and Audrey this last October to a week in Carmel by the Sea and stayed at the famous Doris Day Hotel, the

We had such good time that we are planning to do it twice in 2014.

My grandson Kyle (Suzy's Son's boy) started Bishop O'Dowd this year, my Alma Mater. As a freshman he
made the JV Football team which won their League
Championship. I attended as many games as I could. It was a very exciting season.
In November I took a two week Nosework Trainer's Course taught by Andrew Ramsey of Ramsey K9. The course focused on how to train and prepare dogs for Nosework competition and to train handlers how to handle, reinforce and maintain a dog's nosework training.
In December I changed the class schedule. Because of the increase in private training I had to reduce the number of drop-in classes from 8 to 6 per month. The whole 2014 schedule is on-line.
I hope that 2014 brings you all happiness and prosperity.
