treeShield® User Guide

Beginning this week your HMI Authorized Member home page at www.HMIadvantage.com will have a new look. HMI has added a new button for downloading the treeShield® User Guide. We have been developing this guide to provide you with detailed descriptions and instructions on all aspects of the treeShield® Warranty Program.

The Guide covers everything from setting up and changing your Member Account information to coverage details, property inspections and processing a client's claim. The Guide will be your best resource to learn about the treeShield Program and get answers to any questions you may have about it or our system.

Please contact us at (866) 937-6468 if you have any questions or difficulty downloading the Guide.

Annual Warranty Coverage Levels

Currently there are four levels of coverage available: $5,000, $10,000, $15,000 and $25,000. The warranty amount you select for your client should be based on the number of Large Trees and the ease of accessibility to the property.

Example for a property with a $5,000 Warranty limit and a $2,500 event limit:

Storm A: Post-storm clean-up services cost $1,250. The property owner has 100% coverage for the cost of services with $3,750 of Warranty coverage remaining.

Storm B: Post-storm clean-up services cost $3,000. The property owner has $2,500 coverage for the cost of services and will owe the difference of $500. There is now $1,250 of Warranty coverage remaining.

treeShield® FAQs

Q:  Who should get the Warranty?

A:  Any one of your clients who is buying services that are intended to help protect their trees from damage caused by strong storms. Many of our Authorized Members are providing treeShield® to their regular clients who routinely have their trees pruned and are on plant health care programs.

Q:  Can our customer use another company to have the work completed?

A:  No. treeShield® is your Warranty. The only way for the customer to access the warranty is by filing a claim with you and to have you provide the service.

Q:  Is an inspection required for a property to qualify? Who pays for it?

A:  Yes, a property must be inspected by you in accordance with certain inspection protocols and approved by HMI in order to be included in the treeShield® program. It is up to you whether to charge your client for the inspection.
