treeShield Covers Largest Willow Oak in N.C.
Schneider Tree Care has been caring for the largest Willow Oak in North Carolina* for the past three years. Schneider was hand-picked to provide tree pruning services to the record-breaking Willow Oak tree. The tree is a staggering 101 inches in diameter (very healthy and growing - dbh was 99" in 2010), has a 124 foot canopy spread and is 85 feet in height.
The goal of the Union County community is to preserve the health of the tree, which is why they chose Schneider Tree Care. The historic Willow Oak will be receiving the Total Protection Package that includes treeShield. As explained by a local resident, "Schneider Tree Care understands that pruning a tree is more than just cutting off limbs." The Schneider Tree Care team worked carefully to remove any dead, dying and diseased limbs to eliminate any points of entry for disease and fungus. Ryan Chipman, Certified Arborist and VP of Business Development, explains the package in further detail:
"The total protection package for this tree includes pruning to remove deadwood only. We don't want to remove green healthy growth from this tree unless absolutely necessary; all of the leaves are food factories. We will fertilize twice annually to improve and maintain soil health and reduce compaction. We are spraying to reduce the amount of harmful insects on the tree, which was likely caused by the development of the neighborhood. We will also
perform protective sprays to help keep borer insects out of the tree, and we have installed and maintain a lightening protection
system in the tree.
treeShield was the final piece that provides that extra level of service unique to Schneider."
